Go to a gun store and see the Ruger beside the Mossberg.
IMO, the Mossberg comes in as a fairly poor deal, compared to the Ruger. The Mossberg build quality looked....lightweight. It does not offer any possibility of adding, subtracting, or changing out any of it's components, except maybe to buy a plinkster wood stock and revert back to that. The Ruger, and the Remington, both offer the option to go about any direction one may wish, choosing from all levels of aftermarket accessories, from airsoft to full-on, bet-your-life solid AR stuff.
A bud just got an Archangel kit for his 10/22, and as all plastic rigs go, it's a pretty good, solid piece of kit too. The execution of that stock seemed much better, though it still does not offer any interchangeable parts.
Looking at the Mossberg at P&D a couple weekends back, I gotta say, I don't think the price is low enough to make them worth it. Truth. I didn't even bother to ask how much, when I picked it up and had a good look at it.
The rifle inside Mossberg's iteration of the stock, is a proven performer. Dunno how the Mossy mags will work out. Wasn't impressed at all with the stock's execution. YMMV
