Mossberg Tactical .22 Flat Tops are here!

I'm trying to decide between this, and an SR22..

the SR22 is much better i've heard, but then again, if I get this, I will probably look at grabbing a JR Carbine..

Guys, steer me into a good idea.. I'm mostly concerned about the plastic build of these..

Weird thing that they jam with the 333 or 555 winy ammo. My rugers don't like any round nose lead ammo, but swallow any copper plated ammo perfectly, including the cheap 333/555 ammo. Usually the soft lead stuff end up denting and gets hung up, but the harder copper plated ammo does'nt.

I'm sure with a little bit of polishing & slight alterations, these mossys could feed anything reliable... Its a shame that mossy does'nt iron out the feeding quirks before they end up with the same reputation as remington 597's.

Does anyone know where to get quality .22 in the G.T.A. for this Mossy? I would rather buy from someone on this site rather than Crappy Tire.

A poster said before that you should handle this rifle in person before buying it. Why? Very plasticy, none of the controls are real, feels like a toy at Walmart.

Handle one of these and an SR-22 before deciding.

That said, the Mossberg is a good gun. It just might not be to all tastes.

I'm up to around......14,000 rounds on my non flat top Mossberg tactical (same rifle inside, Mos 702 plinkster).

I reshaped the feed ramp on mine for round nose and mild HP only ammo, tried the 333/555 hollowpoint stuff but jesus christ that is cheaply made with NO consistency in bullet moldings.

I get great results with the Federal 525 and CCI lead 40grain solids, tho the 525 Federal is becoming inconsistent in its powder loads, I'll have to try more ammo types.

Overall worth the $300 area I paid for the rife + 6 extra mags.

Wanstalls, you guys getting Mossberg Tactical mags in soon or are you stocked up?

May I ask what's the best ammo for this tiny terror. Just ordered it today and now it feels like friday. My first rifle Yay!!! Does anyone have some suggestions how to trick this .22 out????

I buy the Federal 525 pack and it is quite reliable in the Mossberg.

As much as I'd like one, I like metal, the heft, the feel, and the coldness when you first pick it up.

Thanks. Maybe I will pick up the SR22.

Gagnon Sports has listed this item. So as Al Flahertys. Might be a hot seller like the Ruger takedown. Price is very tempting. But any review of the non-flat 1st gen Mossberg Tactical to compare against this new toy?

Ok I had my hands all over this gun at Wanstalls earlier today so I'll give you all the low down.

Internals are same old Mossberg 702 Plinkster with enhance charging handle, very nice now.

Front and rear sites are removable just like normal scope rings come off.

Bird cage flash hider is a really nice touch and finished off that empty gap up front.

Can u add the ar handle to the new model or was it taken off??

Top of receiver can fit a standard AR carry handle.

Thanks you guys for the help picking out my nice SKS earlier today, was so captivated by it I forgot to grab mags for my Mossberg.

It's still all cheap plastic but it doesn't feel like such a toy now with the flat top model, I want one!
