While waiting for the new Moss Tactical Flat Top 22s to come out
I came across a good deal on a regular A2 Upper one.

Works great but the front sight sucked and I had the rear sight cranked
up as far as it would go but it was still shooting low. So I needed a lower front sight.

I got a Fiber Optic sight at the Woodstock gun show for $5 a few months ago. Was going to put it on a old single shot 20g I have.

Cut front sight off. Drilled hole and tapped it. Took about 5 min.

Kids love this gun I will get the new Flat Top one, when I
can find one.

wow I like that soooo much, I'm going to do that to mine. I too can't wait for the flat top!
I bought a new lucid hd7 red dot and the front sight got in the way when I mounted the optic infront of the handle. Have it now mounted on the handle but it's to high off the center bore. The flat top will fix all of that. What else have you moded?
I added four magnets on the side and use a bent fish net to catch my caseings when I shoot at home.

I have a question for the Mossberg Tactical 22, a bit off topic, not intend to hijack the thread.

How accurate are they, let's say 50yards and 100yards? I have my eyes on Mossberg Tactical 22 Flat Top newer version as my first 22lr plinking gun beside my AR (found it on Cabelas' flyer). Thanks for the input.

I ordered a Flat top from Cabela's. They're on back order with no delivery date. They are hopeing before December.
I talked to someone who said the current models were fairly accurate.
He also said it was reliable. He had 5 FTF or FTE total in 650 rounds he has put through it. I'm just buying it to plink so drilling holes isn't a priority. I have 10 bolt action 17 and 22's for that.

Like the sight update !!

I have a tactical .22 mossy and a bolt action savage .22
The mossberg is awesome for 50yds and less or if you're into tactical shooting. If you are wanting to have a tack driver, buy a different gun! I shoot my savage 150-200+yds. There are people shooting my savage btvs over 400yds. If you do get a .22 my recommendation is try as many brands and types of ammo you can!
My mossy loves stingers but they cost alot, it also shoots american eagle well. The best grouping ammo my gun shoots is dynapoint, however it jams atleast once or twice per magazine. Gurrr. My savage shoots everything but groups dynapoint the best aswell.
Just my two cents worth!!!!!!!!!!

I like SpeedJunkies idea...good job !
I've never actually shot mine to see how tight of a group I can get.
However , at 50yd I can shoot a static claypigeon and then pick off the broken pieces.
At 85yd , minute of popcan can be done all day.
Firing off a full mag as fast as I can , I can stay inside a 8" circle ( using a bipod @ 50yd)
I use a Bushnell Trophy red dot or a Aixiz green laser and whatever these 55yr old eyes can see , I can hit.
Problem is , I can fire just a couple of slow deliberate shots ...then I gotta start triple tapping...just gotta do it...Next thing I know , the mag is empty , so , I now have two 25rd mags along with the 10rd ready to go.
I'm not getting the jam prob LittleAirwolf mentioned and I'm using the same ammo he is. It was more like 3 to 5 out of 500 , but now that my unit is broke-in the FTF's are getting far fewer where I can blow-off 20rds without any interruptions.
I don't max load the mag and keep it to 20rd or less ( This will also help keep the mag spring in good shape ) and if your shooting off the bench , don't let the mag rest on the table.
Past experience tells me these units should be great bunnie busters.

I've been told to try not to put the magazine on the ground. Even with high powered rifles because it can cause jam issues.
I have 4 25rd mags and are thinking about getting two or three more. saves time at the range.
We have a cinema range in Calgary. It's 60 bucks for 15 mins. So ever second costs. If you have mags pre loaded, you shoot alot more.

i bought my tactical .22 simply cause my gf was complaining that my 597vtr was to heavy for her to hold for longer periods(keep her happy and i get to shoot more lol) actually ended up really liking the way it shoots. 50 yards when sighted in shoots great with a red dot.

Totally, I'm only 5 feet tall, 120 pounds and the six position stock works great.
I was thinking of waiting till the Kel tec SU-16 comes out. Weighes 4 pounds.
My friends Sr-22 with .920 barrel and scope is over 10lbs.
However my friend is 6'4 and 180 lbs so he can handle the 10lds no prob.
I love my mossy!

That was the other reason I bought the Mossy .
Because of the adjustable stock my girlfriend and her daughter can shoot it as well.
I can relate to the weight issue being brought up.
I have a Winchester 490(semi).Great rifle but it's the heaviest 22 I've ever held mostly due to being all steel (no plastic). Off the bench it's great.Trying to shoot it free hand I loose interest due to the weight.

Thank you for all input. I'll be travelling abroad for a month and back in Dec. Hopefully the Mossberg Tactical 22 Flat Top would be available just in time before my Christmas :) By the way, no doubt why SR22 is f##**g heavy as it's all metal gun! I believe I could make aluminum shell/receiver (AR look alike body) for Mossberg Tactical 22 Flat Top as well.
