My only problem is the lack of high capacity mags for the 702 but I am getting one anyways and a couple of extra 10 rounders at least.

Wow...at that price, I couldn't resist and just ordered one too. It sounds weird, but I'm half hoping it's not as good a rifle as we're all hoping it will be. If it is, I'm sure going to feel bad for spending almost 2 1/2 times as much for my Ruger SR-22.
I'd love to buy this rimbine and tacticool the mall ninja out of it, but I'll wait. Sites in the US have folks dismissing the cons because of the price and the haters have access to MP15-22's and AR .22 uppers so it's not very conducive. What I gather from sites that actually try to review it is not very thrilling. So I'll wait for a general Canadian consensus.

Compared to what? It looks pretty much like every other AR15 based rifle out there? You must think they're all "Fugly" if that's the case?
As a matter of fact, it probably mimics the actual AR in looks better than any of the other 22LR offerings right now....with the exception of the Colt. And from what I hear, aside from looks, the Colt is a real pile of scrap?

Yeah cant wait to get mine. Called Cabelas today, everything was approved, should ship monday! I know this rifle wont be anywhere near as good as the SR-22. But it should be a fun rifle never the less. And with cool AR style ergonomics....its about time someone came out with something like this for the price.

I just went to Cabelas last night to get one.
I have not taken it out yet, but it is cool. Looks like an AR from afar but no where near the same functions. The biggest pet peeve I have so far is the mag ejection. Hopefully I can go out with it tomorrow and give it a try

P&D had some in stock when I was there today. Price was $299. First impression; incredibly light, i'd say 2/3 or 1/2 the weight of the sr-22. The reason for the light weight? Very thin barrel and other than the receiver and barrel, it is 100% plastic. I think the 10rd mag, and funky mag release will be the biggest issues for most. about the only plus over the sr-22, it has last shot hold open.
One was sold while i was there. Guy buying it for his daughter. For what it is, and the low price they'll probably sell a lot. If you want to customize, i'd say stick with the sr-22
I already have one coming from cabellas, it was $290 including tax and shipping(using the holiday coupon code). I Ordered it Friday, and it shipped out the same day. Should be here Tuesday.

Just picked one up yesterday at Cabella's for my 10 yr. old son. He want's a semi auto for his birthday and since he's a real military/tactical nut I figured this would fit the bill. Paid $269.00 for it. I like the fact that it's not restricted but could see a CO or two coming up to you and checking it out in the bush.
It's a little cheap with all the plastic but looks like it will be alright. It definitely has the "cool" factor and even had Cabella's employees and a couple of customers liking it and asking questions. The adjustable stock is good since it will allow for this shorter arms and still allow for my longer ones. It's really light but that's due to all the plastic. It would be nice to find a fake suppressor for it.
Now all we have to do is wait for either Mossberg or another manufacturer to come out with a 20-25 round mag for it. In the mean time we'll just use two or three 10 rd mags. The longer mags wouldn't look as good because they would stick past the fake centerfire mag shroud. Present mag ejection kind of sucks on it. You have to pull the slide back and push the release down while pulling the mag out. Will take some time to get good at that for sure and requires longer fingers which a kid won't have.
The only real problem is his birthday isn't until the end of November and I'd really like to try it out right now!

Hey target - is there any way to swap the handguards? The uber-tactical rails are a bit much for my liking. Will it take a standard set of AR guards?
And any idea if you can easily remove the barrel? Might jazz it up a bit if you could get the barrel threaded and add a flash hider.

Since the rails are screwed to the handguard and the entire handguard appears to be held with into the frame with a socket head capscrew, I'm assuming that individual rails could be removed or the entire handguard could be swapped.
Also since they're standard picatinny rails you could mount a vertical foregrip or I would think a complete rail mount foregrip like on a SR-556.
I haven't looked yet to see if the barrel removes but a flash hider would be sweet. You would think that Mossberg considered this since they offer the 702 with a muzzle brake that looks as big as one on a BMG 50. You know that on a .22 it's just for show.
I'm sure that if this firearm it functions well as a plinking .22 then giving it some more personal style would be nice. The first thing I think I may get for it will be a red dot scope. Or a nice rimfire scope. Reliable high capacity mags would be nice if they become available.
