Mossberg Tactical 25 round mag prohib?

This is incorrect. You should not be giving this sort of advice as you apparently do not understand the issue or the memo.

To clarify, this is what I was quoting if it appeared that I was misquoting that truly was not my intent:

2. Magazines designed or manufactured for both centrefire calibre rifles and handguns

Magazines designed to contain centrefire cartridges and designed or manufactured for use in a semiautomatic rifle are limited to five cartridges. However, magazines designed to contain centrefire cartridges and designed or manufactured for use in a semiautomatic handgun are limited to 10 cartridges. Magazines designed or manufactured for use in both semiautomatic rifles and semiautomatic handguns are subject to the limit of five cartridges.

Hope this helps.

Ok, yes. You want to watch your language though, because what you wrote referred to point #4 and said that they would have to be pinned to 5 rounds, which is not the case. The differences in meaning between "fits" and "designed or manufactured for" are significant.

4. Magazines designed for one firearm but used in a different firearm

The maximum permitted capacity of a magazine is determined by the kind of firearm it is designed or manufactured for use in and not the kind of firearm it might actually be used in. As a consequence, the maximum permitted capacity remains the same regardless of which firearm it might be used in.

Example:
The Marlin model 45 (Camp Carbine) rifle chambered for 45 Auto caliber uses magazines designed and manufactured for the Colt 1911 handgun, therefore the seven round and eight round capacities are permitted. A similar example is the 10 round capacity magazine for the Rock River Arms LAR-15 pistol, regardless of the kind of firearm it is actually used in.

I will, however, retract my earlier statement as you do appear to have a decent grasp on the issue. Just be careful with vocabulary selection, because one misspoken... err... mistyped word can give a completely different meaning to what you're trying to express, lol.

I bought a flat top last week came with a 25 round magazine its not pinned. What is more interesting they where selling just right carbines in 9mm that are non restricted and where approved for sale with a 10 round center fire glock magazine.

Anyways they can pry the 25 round magazine from my cold dead hands...

I want to see written proof that it is prohibited.

This and a bolt action pistol never went into production, was just a concept thought...

If the pistol never went into production, then there is no available pistol that uses the magazine.
If this is the case, then there would be no reason to limit the magazine.
The RCMP should revise their interpretation, in the light of the pistol being non existant.

I thought I used proper lanuage, to misquote is another thing.... The only person that I seemed to have offended was you...... Misquote = Mea Culpla..... improper language I don't think so.:)

Thank you for retraction, you did come off very strong, even though there was ambiguitity in the post. the link was added for the reader's perusal.

This morning I called one of my customers (an RCMP S/Sgt who is also a shooting buddy).
Off the record (I of course didn't want this to be an official call if the news was bad)...the Mossberg 25 rounder does not show up on any of their lists, and because there is no available pistol that takes the mag that is a moot point.
I'll take his word over your CFO.
He did comment (verbatim)..."what gun owner is going to try and open such a ridiculous can of woms?"

Ask your RCMP S/Sgt friend to check the FRT entry for the Mossberg.
In particular, FRT #136698, and the "Canadian Legal Comments".
Of course, if you do, and if he did, would you be a gun owner opening such a ridiculous can of worms?

I'm really disappointed that in this day and age we're throwing each other under the bus over something as silly as a rimfire magazine that holds more than 10 rounds which the OP is so worried about being prohibited due to mossberg having a prototype pistol that as far as we know never made it to Canada let alone anywhere due to not producing it. Feel free to argue that owning a prohibited device packs a significant legal punch.

If it's worrying you so darn much I'll buy the thing off of you and enjoy the hell out of it for you. I can only imagine the thrill of firing off that 11th round and knowing it has 14 more friends waiting to play.

OP if you put half this effort into writing MPs and various other government officials asking that they throw out overly complex and often useless gun related laws we wouldn't have to have discussions like this.

Close the thread already, I'm sick off everyone flaming each other!
The OP was concerned and we corrected him, end of story!
I now know why they opened up Gun owners of canada forum.

Weird, I've owned 7 25 rounds mags and they all work great. I don't hand load though. I do know there was an issue with the mags but I guess I got lucky!
Loved my mossy.
I can't believe that no one has really gone off the deep end and made the comment
(sell the mossy and buy a sr-22!)

lol i put my mossy in my safe and did buy an sr 10/22
I like it a lot
Not to crap on the guys with mossys though , i still have it

Sorry for going off topic OP.
It would be good to get this issue resolved .
That way nobody gets nailed for a paper crime due to an RCMP blunder

Obviously the RCMP have erred.
I'm closing down this thread.
If anyone comes up with any factual, current information, a new thread could always be started.
