Mossberg vs Beretta

I have been looking to get a shotgun for 3-gun matches. I made the decision to go with a semi-auto and have narrowed my choices down to the Mossberg 930 JM Pro or a Beretta 1301 Comp. The Beretta is few hundred dollars more but seems to have a better fit and finish with less malfunctions. The Mossberg has a higher magazine capacity right out of the box and has more after market products available for it. I haven't handled or shot either gun. I would prefer the Beretta but the JM pro is very tempting at about $400-$500 less. Any opinions or reccomendations on this?
 
i watched jerry load shells on a "stripper clip" for lack of a beter term! he was hooting a 930 as well i am pretty sure! looked slick!

never shot a baretta before so i can't help with that. sorry.
 
I've read that the Beretta is the GT sport model to the Mossberg's V6 sedan. Both will get you there but the Beretta is faster and more refined.
 
Semi autos are only allowed 5 in the mag. in Canada if you shoot in the US then you can take advantage of the 930 jm 9 shot mag capacity.
 
I have 2 1301, the only mods are +1 mag ext, welded lifter and loading port, the Gun ran 100% from the box, even with light loads, and very accurate with slugs
 
Versa Tactical is about $200 more than the 1301. Definitely a nice gun but my Max is in range with the 1301 @$1200. Whether I use the 9+ or not, is the $400 more for Beretta really worth it?

The 1301 now retails for 1500 and up depending on the retailer, I got my 2nd 1301- 24" just last week from Bass Pro, same priced when our dollar was still at par with U.S. It was last stock for the 24, mine was even the displayed 1301. According to the sales rep the new incoming 1301's price will have a little adjustment.

I've seen the 1301 for $1259 at a couple of different retailers.

Seriously considering it. I still like the price of the Mossberg better. I haven't read anything that really has me convinced that the extra money spent on the Beretta is worth it. It seems more of a personal preference. I have owned guns from both manufacturers and there were never any malfunctions. The major difference was the finish. The Beretta definitely looked nicer. I'd like to handle both but unfortunately none of the local retailers have a 930 mj pro in stock. I'm in no rush to buy but I would hate to lose the Beretta at that price.
