Mossberg42m ,should I re=barrel

I have my second Mossberg 42m and the bore is rusted beyond salvaging ,so my question is , is it worth re barreling and if it is where would I send it to get the work done ?

No-sell as parts gun (save any peep sights) and look for as nice of a replacement as you can find. Money way ahead. A liner might work if you can find one & get it installed.

You could do the barrel liner if you can find someone up here to do it. Not sure if the price would be worth it though. If you part the gun out or sell it as parts you may be farther ahead. These rifles come up for sale pretty regularly in descent shape.

Is it a 42M or a 42M(b) lend lease rifle?

Have you tried shooting it much? I've had some pretty sad looking rimfire bores provide ok accuracy. S'long as last few inches and crown are ok, the tend to still sling lead ok.

As suggested, probably not worth the investment to re-barrel.

There's one in the gunshop that's in pristine condition,good bluing and woodwork, original peep sight -$299....
You have to put that up against the price of rebarreling or relining,ok if you can do it yourself,but not worth it if you have to pay a gunsmith do it
