mossburg 500 vs rem 870?

I have a 500, my dad has an 870 express supermag, both guns have been flawless. I don't feel a need for a 3-1/2" shell, so I felt the 500 was a better deal. After my dad checked out my 500 I think he thought so too, but he won't admit it. If you are just going to hunt small game and deer, the 2-3/4" chamber on your wingmaster shouldn't really be a problem, but if you want interchangeable tubes AND a rifled slug barrel, you are better off (price wise) to get the 500 combo.

870 In my opinion. I have had 3 mossy 500's and several 870's. Mostly wingmasters. But I have had 4 express's (I think) I wouldn't complain about the mossy. But I still go back to the 870's Lebarons list 870's with a laminated stock. Haven't seen one in person yet. Maybe next week when I go in to buy some AA's

To me the 870 is the finest pump shotgun ever made, however.......after a frustrating experience with a 150 class whitetail and a black powder rifle, I made a trip to the gun shop and purchassed a Mossberg 500 cantalever, rifled, slug gun. I only use this firearm for one particular area outside Edmonton (15 minutes from my office). It has worked flawlessly for 14 years. I have always shot Remington sabots and have had groups of 2 1/2" at a hundred yards (when I do my part)

That being said, I have not nor will I part with any of my 870's. Remington has a great rifled slug barrel, but it is expensive. For the price you're talking about buy the Mossy and that way you end up with another firearm. Thats always a good thing.
