Just wondering if anyone here has purchased a 20-24" turkey barrel for a mossy 500 in mossy oak new break up in Canada. I can't find them anywhere near me, Cabelas has them listed on both there web and catalogue. Local dealer says he can't get them though and all inet searches in canada are a no go for this one! Please help and point me in the right direction.

Sir, and wholesale don't have this barrel, tried there and I emailed mossberg three days ago and haven't heard back yet on it. Trust me I've been looking and calling local shops that carry mossberg and no luck. Called a couple of the others on the list but unless your a smith or retailer they won't deal with you...... I'm still at a loss. how much hassle to bring the barrel across the border....
 
There shouldn't be any hassle...it is the retailer that is the hassle. :cool:
I'd call Mossberg directly on their 888 number and tell them the situation.

I'm sure then they would ship to you.
 
no word directly from mossberg yet, been a while now. Gobles in London has been very helpful though, but from what they know this barrel is not available in Canada, and might be a "Cabelas" exclusive. Now with that information, if I drive to Cabelas in Dundee Michigan and buy this barrel, what do I have to do to "legally" bring this across the border (import/export permits etc...) I have only ventured across the border once in the last 20 years and am not partial on doing so. I've had no problems to speak of though, just prefer to stay on this side of the creek!
 
I just checked the Mossberg sight, they only list 2 camo barrels for the 500. One is a rifled slug barrel and the other is a 28", so it looks like Gobles is correct. I can't help you with the legal requirements of getting it over the border from Cabela's. There are places where you can get a barrel painted in camo up here though, that may be an easier way to go.
 
you must get hold of BATF and get the proper export permit, and as well Canada Customs, and CFC for import permits
It takes time, but as far as I know, no fees
Dont try and go get it, IF Cabelas will sell it to you knowing you are not a US citizen, and sneak it back
If you get caught, you wont be a happy camper
