I just got my 590 Marine in the mail form SIR today, and fired 55 rounds through it. I shot 25 light bird shot and the rest Rem and Win 2 3/4 slugs.

It has sticky exraction with the slugs. I have 3 other friends with the same gun and they also have the same problem, 2 of them even have problems with light bird shot loads.

I looked at mine and it is obvoisly hanging up just in front of the rim, right where the rim meets the side wall of the case. You can see it on the fired brass and you can feel it when inserting a fired round back into the chamber with your finger.

The chamber has a bevled edge right in the problem area, brass tends to bulge there and it looks as if it were cut to prevent sticky ejection. In my case the bevled edge needs to be extended a little further into the chamber.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Mine was sticky for the first 100 rounds and then smoothed out. Try a different brand of ammo and give it a good cleaning.

Glad to hear that she smoothed out with a bit of use, so far my friends have not, mabey they just need to shoot a bit more.

I polished the problem area of the chamber, I guess I will see if it made a difference.

My 590A1 was a little rough the first time i shot it...but I never had any of the extraction issues you speak of, and I shoot probably 90% slugs out of her. That night I put some toothpast on the bolt and inside of the reciever, cycled the action constantly for about an hour or so, then washed it all out and oiled it. Its now just as smooth as any 870 Ive owned or shot.
