What you guys think? Both can shoot 2 3/4 to 3 1/2, both can have mutiple chokes, both have bird and deer barrels, both are nice looking and in my price range. I just can't make up my mind...

The Mossberg has a lighter receiver than the 870, the barrel is ported and helps a little with recoil, the recoil pad is a little cushier than the 870. I don't think you could go wrong with either. I own the 858 and like they position of bolt lock versus the 870's bolt lock it's move conveniently located IMO. Negative thing with the 858 is you'll need a separate barrel to fire slugs because it is overbored, the receiver is pre-tapped to accept mounts for signs. Good luck.

I personally would look at the mossberg 930 if I had a choice. Around the same price but a better gun than both above. Price is the same. Probably less. Ellwood Epps in Orilla has the mossberg 930 for 538 plus tax and shipping.

Have both the 835 ultimate-mag and the 870. They both get the job done, but what I really prefer is the location of the tang safety on the mossberg. For that reason alone, the remington doesn't get out much anymore.

That and the safety on top are 2 of the feature i like about the mossberg, it will probably be my next gun...
