Marlin 981T 22LR rifle, almost new. IMO, it was a fair trade.

This Rolling Thunder looks too cool, maybe I can sell it to a movie props company?:D

Seriously thinking about chopping 3 inches off the MB, then elongating the remaining ports to approximate the same area of the original ports. That would reduce the OAL to 20 inches as well as the weight.

I saw a youtube vid with the original pistol grip and the MB seems to be effective...no muzzle rise and recoil seems to have been reduced. Maybe I'll shoot this thing first and see.
 
It does look different, that's for sure. I like the Dlask brake on my 11-87 much better but if it works, what the heck. Does it take screw in chokes?

I have no idea, but the muzzle thread diameter is much larger than the muzzle of an un-threaded barrel. The muzzle diameter looks much larger than that on your 11-87. I'll post a picture later.
 
Mossy Rolling Thunder Update

Came across this old thread as I was looking back at my old posts.

I did get to shoot the Rolling Thunder couple months back, using Lee 1 oz slugs over 25.5 grains 800X with whatever wad I had that would give the correct height for the load and a good tight crimp. Couldn't line up the front bead properly, will need to mount a dot sight on this shotgun. Still managed to hit 8.5 x 11 inch paper at 25 meters after a few tries.

Recoil was pleasant, like an SKS, with little muzzle rise. I think the brake works and will be left untouched. I think I'll keep this shottie for a while, as it draws curious looks at the range:D.

Haven't checked if it will take screw in chokes but a quick look tells me it won't.

Dude NO! thats the last thing we need is non-restricteds getting reclassed and stolen again. personally I think the stock and barrel should be buried in an unmarked grave and replaced with useful equipment but if the OP is happy than Mossbergs "bring your kid to work day" worked out well
 
the only way the "Rolling Thunder" could be more ghey is if the foregrip was shaped like a giant ##### and had a set of truck-nutz dangling from the muzzle brake.

you know, you'll now need a Tactigay SKS and a "Night Train" to complete the set.
 
Yeah, it's gimmicky and looks downright goofy. But if you enjoy shooting it then who cares? You traded something you had two of for something you had none of. If nothing else you can at least take pictures of it to scare antis.

it seems mossberg just wants to put useless sh*t on the barrels/proven action, with no real cause or purpose. If they wanted to do something that the tactifool community flipped over, they would approach magpul and say, " hey guys, we need to do a full shotgun together" bang! millions of dollars

It seems they are trying to corner the movie gun audience;the chainsaw, rolling thunder, this and the 902 plinkster with the barret style brake. They are doing things that have the LCF/CDI/ HFLAMAWIOPCBMVBF.OSTNT,IAANANDHF (holy f*** look at me and what I own please come be my very best friend. on second thought, no thanks I am a ninja and ninjas don't have friends) (No offense OP) but doing so very cheaply and half-assed.

I feel the muzzle brake does work well, it just makes the OAL toooooooooo long. The ATI stock was added on by the previous owner, cheek weld is too high so I will install a red dot soon as I can get a scope base.

No offense taken, I get a kick when guys see it at the range (What is that thing? or Hey check out the Rolling Thunder!)

The only accessory I really need are scopes or red-dots. This RT is just for S and G's.
