Most Accruate UR Semi Auto?

Can anyone tell me what the most accurate, unrestricted semi-auto is? I want something for calling coyotes and maybe gophers. I have someone who wants to sell me an SL8 but I'm not sure if that is the right way to go. SL8 price range is fine. I am willing to spend some money on mods like new barrels, trigger, etc. I will also be putting optics on it. I have a Nikon 2.5-10x40 Tactical Illuminated that's just lying around so I'll likely put that on it. Also, is there any advantage to getting the AR-15 Mag kit for the SL8 if I go that route? Why is it desirable?

I'll put a vote in for the Sig Black Special. So far mine has proven to be plenty accurate enough for coyotes, and should give gophers problems out to 200 or so. I won't go as far as saying "the most accurate Non-restricted" since I haven't shot them all.
My background is mostly boltguns and the Sig will give a lot of sporters some competition. For the price it oughta.

Haven't handled a Sig yet (except for a FA one in Warminster) so I really cannot comment on them.

However, my SL-8 is a good shooter, MOA at 300 meters, using factory Match ammo.

The bonus to getting the AR Mag conversion is that if you already own an AR, you can save money on your magazine supply, by using your AR Mags in your HK...ie if you already own 10 AR mags, why spend $50 a mag on HK mags when you just buy the conversion kit and use your existing AR Mag supply?

BTW, I have a spare mag conversion for the SL-8 if you want one. (PM if interested, ok?)

Funny thing is, I had planned to buy a mini-14 and have a local gunsmith customize it for me. It would have cost about $2000 and he had been getting about .5 MOA with Gaillard barrels. I phoned my smith and he said he hadn't built one for a while and suggested I get an SL8 instead. I Googled it while on the phone with him and was really suprised we could even buy one. Cool! :D Thing is, my smith then said he had one for sale that he had been playing with. I wondered why he was selling it.

To me, the SL8 looks a little spacey. I phoned Wolverine, and asked about the AR-180 and John suggested the SL8, or the Sig. I would really like one of the target model AR's but I wouldn't be able to hunt with it so that's a no-go. What about availability of parts for customizing the rifle?? Is there any point to this other than mounting options?
 
I was going to say a Blaser R-93, but then I noticed that you said Semi-Auto.

I don't have any experience with the Sig series of rifles, but I can personally vouch for the H&K SL8. We've turned ours into a quasi G36. Very satisfyingly accurate, and ####ing cool looking to boot.

The AR180B is not and never will be a match rifle. It will shoot plenty accurate for "utility" use but no one buys an AR180B for match target shooting.
 
Sig would be the most accurate. The HK is also right up there for accuracy but its funky thumb-hole stock can throw people off. The M96 is also pretty good for accuracy, but not as good as the SIG. The SIG is an absolute tack driver.
 
what about an AR with a match barrel, with 1-7 twist with heavy bullets? Wouldnt it be comparable from an accuracy point of view?
 
How about a Browning BAR Safari in .243? A nice steel and walnut option to the military look alikes, and it should be as accurate as any other alternative. The .243 might be a bit much for gophers, but it's fine on everything else, could be used for deer as well, and will cost much less than an HK or Swiss Arms. Just a thought.

Tried a Browning Bar in .243 already. Not accurate enough for me. I want something capable of .5" groups. I'm willing to rebarrel but it's not easy to rebarrel a Bar and results are mixed. Thanks!
