Most accurate .22LR takedown?

Looking for a .22LR takedown for vehicle. Ideally, the most compact (shortest OAL disassembled) and most accurate.

The Henry AR-7 seems like a good fit but it doesn't appear to be very accurate even at 25 yds.

My 10/22 Take-down is accurate enough to hit a squirrel in the head from standing with a NC Star 3x scope on it at 25 (ish) meters if that helps out at all. Although there is the whole 10/22 mag thing going on right now.

if you cant put 20 rounds through a hole the size of a loonie at 25yrs with a 10/22 like the OP asked than its not the gun that is the problem my friend.

we call that 'end user error'.

anything other than accuracy that you are weighing your decision on?
semi or single shot?
chiappa little badger is a neat little plinker, i picked one up and carry it on my quad when im out on the trail for plinking.

last couple years ive been looking into the take down 22's as well, chiefly because i want to pick one up for my boat.
i do a lot of boating on rivers and lakes in the high north so i thought having a 22 take down would be nice to have tucked away for either emergancy food gathering (stranded/small game) or for just plinking.
i have been leaning to wards the 10/22 take down just strictly due to familiarity and access to accessories.
than i started to look the AR7 since it is listed as being able to float.
but once i started to do research i found not a lot of good reviews of the AR7 and i found the mags to be very $$ at $70 a shot that is almost 1/3 the price of the gun per mag.
granted the very small compactness of it is a winning feature.
i think ill probably pick one up and try it out.
and eventually ill pick up a 10/22 take down as well just to play with.
can never have too many 22!
 
Marline Papoose. I have one, never tried it with a scope, but changed the sight to a skinner peep. The butt stock is hollow. I took a lead from some forum and epoxied an M16 butt latch on the end and now have storage for some cleaning tools, extra mags, etc. Great gun and reasonably priced from what I remember. Packs real easy.
 
Ruger 10/22. I have a regular and a takedown model and they both are decently accurate. Mine will headshot squirrels all day long at 25 yards. The takedown comes with a nice carry bag and is a very nice setup with a TRS 25 red dot.
 
My wish list in order of importance is: compactness, reliability, accuracy, corrosion resistance.

Thats why the AR-7 seems like the perfect choice, except for the accuracy.... again only what I have seen on youtube :) If someone knows differently from experience then I would love to be proven wrong.

I want to store this in my xterra's little storage cubby under the floor so compactness, like the AR-7 would be perfect.

Just wait until you see how fat the buttstock is. I was really close to buying one, the second I seen it I said f that, hand me that 795 please. How deep is your cubby, the stock must be at least 4 inches wide, very chunky things. Look in his hands, and he's a big guy

AR7 has it's negatives but I have always liked mine. Also have the Badger in .22... both are inexpensive, fun, and great .22s... but yes the Badger is more accurate.
 
I originally was looking at the ar7 but as posted, the stock is huge. I went with the papoose and I am in love with it. Seems as accurate as the non takedown 10/22 I was shooting with the same day.
 
instead of being a take- down- how about going the other way- folding stock?that way your barrels mounted and deploys quicker

Great now I have another rifle on my radar I will need to buy lol
