Most accurate .40cal bullet?

I would think a 180 grain bullet will be going at the least 1300fps out of the carbine. My calculations are that if going around 1400fps That it will shoot point of aim out to 100yards(+/- an inch or so) with 2" sights, and zeroed at 20yards.

I guess your just going to have to experiment with wich bullets your gun likes.

That's pretty much what it boils down to. Personally, I'd stick with subsonic velocities, so it's not crossing the trans-sonic threshold.

And if your gun is shooting into a 3" area at 100', I can see how it lands at 'point-of-aim' - at no point is the bullet more than 2" above the sight line, or 2" below. If you're shooting into a 3" circle, then it pretty much fits into the margin of error.

In order to get 1300 to 1400 FPS with a 180 grain bullet out of a .40 S&W with a 16.6" barrel you would have to generate pressures in the area of 44,000 to 65,000 PSI (depending on which powder is used). The "safe" limit for the .40 S&W is around 33,000 PSI (regardless of powder used).
