Hi everybody.

I recently bought a Savage Mark II TR, .22lr, and I'm trying to figure out which ammo is best for accuracy, and who sells it in Canada.

Since the Savage MkII is such a common rifle I thought there'd be plenty of good opinions to be offered, thanks

Usually no one locally.

All mine that I have ever had like CCI Standard, but my newest loves American Eagle 38 grain HP.

Yea, that's why I started this thread, I have bought CCI and it works great, but I see lots of references to Lapua, but don't have any idea who carries it, or most of the other brands people mention, so the search continues. Thanks.

Strangely, mine seems to love Winchester DynaPoint bulk stuff. Very accurate (sub-3/8" 50-yd. groups, consistently), dead reliable so far. Cheap, too (WalMart stuff).

As a bonus, it's the same stuff my 10/22 likes best, so far...

CCI Standard Velocity FTW!

Best group from my ammo testing:

50m with a bipod, and rear bag.........

Very nice shooting.

Have you noticed that CCI STND groups poorly at 100?

Not at all, but I haven't put it to the test.

I haven't tried anything else out though and honestly haven't shot more than a couple groups at that distance, as I am usually just shooting the .22 ar 50m.

I plan on trying it this summer though but there always seems to be an abnormal amount of wind when Im out at the range.

This was the best 100m group from my ammo test, and the 1 shot I would say was my fault.

100m from bipod and bags w/CCI Standard Velocity, and those squares are actually a bit smaller than an inch. :D

Hey, thats quite good. I found that my rifle shot way better at 100-200m using HV ammo. All the info ive read says otherwise, but my results dont lie. I am shooting out of a 16 inch FV-SR tho, so that plays a big role as well.

if you ever have a chance to get a hold on some RWS you will not be disapointed. ive been plinking with some subsonic ammo of thiers all almot all afternoon at roughly 75m-90m in poor light with irons with great success. rws is a tad bit expensive but worth it for the quality.

Where did you buy it???????

It seems like lapua, and rws .22lr is some rare and mythical ammo in canada.

Who has a decent selection???? :bangHead:

A lot of people have claimed to use alternate .22lr to the usual federal, cci, remington, etc.

So please let me know where? Thanks.

RWS ammo groups like poop in any rifle that I have tried.

The American eagle solid 40gr have been doing decent for me lately. Consistently around 1.5" at 100yds. Definitely not the same quality of ammo as Eley match and other, but at almost a tenth of the price it's respectable.
