Rem 700 Police 26" barrel 1/9 twist to shoot heavy bullets $900 and change

Not all 1:9'S will shoot 80 gr bullets. Some do very well. How about a heavy barrel Tikka T3 in .223 with a 1:8 twist? With good optics you will be under 2 grand.

walkabout, Stevens 200. If you want a lighter trigger, Savage sporter.

12FV is you want a table top rifle. An option would be to throw it into a Boyds lam stock.

There is little reason you rifle can't cost between $400 and 600. The rest can be spent on optics and components. nikon buckmaster 4X14 or 6X18, Elite 4200 4X16 or 6X24, weaver 4X16 or 6X24.

You are shooting for $1000ish.

You could probably get a base model 700 (BDL) in 223. Have it blueprinted and re-cambered, bedded and you will have a tack driver. probably 1000-1200.00 If you wanna shout heavy bullets only, then buy the same rifle, get a 1/7-1/8 barrel in stainless (easier to clean) and have the same work done. Sell the take off barrel and re-stock it in synthetic. You will have another tack driver again for just a bit more.

Savage 12BVSS or 12 Varmint Low Profile. $700-$750, already in a good solid laminate stock, accutrigger is already there, just need a base, rings and a good scope.
