Most accurate hunting bullet?

I've always found the old Hornady interlocks and partitions shoot very well in my 30 cals and 6.5

They've shot so well, I've not tried alot of others.

What do you guys think the most consistently accurate big game hunting bullet's are, what are you using?
 
It depends on the gun.Magazine and throat length are a factor,as is the particular barrel.I have had really good luck with the Nosler Ballistic Tip,and the TSX/TTSX have done almost as well.

The groups below were three consecutive groups fired with my 300RUM hunting rifle,and my hunting load,and a 3-10x42 scope..I doubt that I could do much better with any bullet,given the rifle/scope/cartridge combination.

Hi Liberty, after 30 years + hanloading & hunting, and I found Hornady and Sierra to be great performers for the price, noy only accuate, but get the job done,when I do my part. My best hunting loads use these bullets in cal 7-08, 30-06,308,300 WM,300WSM,338 WM my new 338RUM.and my old faithful 375 H&H, Nosler ballistic tips are up there also.Make sure u choose the bullet for the task and shoot a lot.
 
That's like asking what kind of lure will work best for a given fish in a given lake!:) Might not work so well in the next lake.
 
Lots of rounds hit paper pretty good, but that doesn't mean it expands properly when game shooting. If you don't hunt, then not a concern. I do hunt and have moved away from very nice paper groups in search of decent expansion in game shots. Too many bullets go clean in and out with less than minimal damage.

That certainly isn't the case with Ballistic Tips.And I haven't seen it happen with the TTSX either.

I have heard good things about the performance of the tsx on game, but would you use the ballistic tip on a moose in 30 caliber?

Maybe
 
For Me the hornady superperformance 150gr SST in .308, I have been looking for the GMX but I have not been able to find any.

My last 3 bull moose were killed with 180 grain ballistic tips out of a 30-06. All died within 50 yds, and one was shot through the shoulder blade. In fact I've shot all 10 of my moose with bullets that had the reputation of being expanders (CPEs and Sabre Tips as well), and only one travelled more than 70 yds, and that was because of a bad hit. Three were bang/flops.

I stopped using 165 grain ballistic tips in my 30.06 for this very reason, not enough expansion. Will never go back to them. Smaller game like deer is one thing, but good ammo should not go clean in and out on a moose. I used several hundred rounds of this load for almost a decade. They don't perform for hunting, but they do hit well on paper.

Most people feel that the 165gr Nosler Ballistic Tip expands too much,and sometimes comes apart at high velocity,which reduces penetration.You are the first one that I have heard complain that they don't expand enough.

So Stubble, have you put a NBT through a Moose yet? Just curious....everyone is insanely horny over TSX/TTSX now and have forgot people used to kill "heavy game" with stuff like CoreLokts/Power Points/etc for years.
 
I haven't tried Bergers as a hunting bullet and probably never will. But in several rifles now I have tried TSX's, and they all shoot ridiculously well. Certainly the most accurate "on average" bullet I have ever used.

If a rifle won't stack TSX's, you have a sick rifle.

i use burgers and tsx's , both shoot great , how ever i have made two kills with the burgers now, both very well placed shoots , and the saying is true "nothing walks away from a burger"

but what they dont say is,"its because they blow a hole in the animal so big you can put a beer can through it with out denting the sides". in all fairness to burger they advertise long range use, and both my shoots were 150-200 yards, but none the less, trophy hunt burger, meet hunt tsx.

but as always every gun likes something different.
 
I'm changing over to Barnes, primarily the TTSX, in a number of my main hunting rifles and accuracy results in what I've tried so far looks great. Until this decission to change over to Barnes, my 'go to' brand of bullet for the accuracy and results I've experienced on game with them has been the Sierra SBT's and GameKings. Two examples I've posted previously, but here goes again, are.
