Most Accurate Inexpensive .22's?

^thought I'd read the thread starter wrong..or I'd have suggested Tikka, CZ, Anschutz too! :)

That rifle any good? LOOKS pretty good! Have to do some reading on them, and, find a way to forget I saw those bright blue shoes. :)

Dunno, everytime I'm ready to order one something else comes up I want...ended up with a HVA/CG T22 from Tradex last week. Quite a bit cheaper then a new T1X, RPR, or CZ so had to give it a go. One of these days I'll grab that Armscor.

I was told Shultz and Larsen target rifles are accurate.
Used ones are under your budget.

They are great, around $300 when they are available, not much around at the moment. Also not something you would want to D&T for a mount, too nice as is. Single shot may not be everyone's fancy, but I ain't getting rid of any of mine.

Hey guys, looking for some knowledge from other members with experience with different models and makes of .22 rifles. What's in your opinion the most accurate .22 rifles for under $500? I currently own a CZ 452 Lux and its very accurate with iron sights, but I'm looking to get an inexpensive .22 rifle to put a scope on for plinking. From what I've read so far, the Savage Mark ii have a really good reputation for accuracy and low cost. Thanks!

You won't be happy with anything less now. Get another Brno/CZ.

I bought a .455 Canadian in 17 HMR; loved it; bought a .455 Military trainer in .22 for shooting our local open sight class, loved it; bought a Brno 452 Ultra Lux in the prettiest piece of walnut I ever owned for Scope class. Love them all!!

My savage mark II is quite accurate especially considering the price. 3/4" 5 shot groups are about the norm at 50yds with cci standard velocity, with the odd 1/2" and 1" groups thrown in.

I like this answer too, you cant go wrong with another CZ. I started with a 452 Varmint, now I want a 452 American to go with it.

What can you tell us about this Philippine-made rifle? It looks like a repeater. What's the trigger like?

Haven't picked one up yet...not much info online. Bit of a review here claiming nice trigger and 1" at 50m with bulk. The action design has been around for 50 years or so...the target version is a newer offering. Those feet are from the gunshop..I asked for some real pics.

I think the same way. I like pretty and accurate rifles, as well as cheap and accurate rifles.

Accuracy is a relative term. Anyways tons have been written about that subject.
So I’ve got a few CZ452s, Savages and Marlins, all bolt actions, all similarly “accurate”.
My Savages both have Accutriggers. A newer model MkIIG, and an older MKIGY. Had and sold a MKIIF which could shoot as well as my CZ 452 Varmint and Style.

Very recently acquired two Anschutz 1416s. Haven’t had a chance to bring them to the range yet.

All of my rifles cost below $500 except for the two Annies.

Recently bought a new 455 St. Patrick's .22 for $469 + tax. Yes, I know the barrel will fall off after the first shot and some people don't like green, red, blue, pink stocks.

So from your experience the cheaper Savages do shoot similarly to a CZ 452? I was afraid of being disappointed with 1" groups at 50 yards with a savage and decent ammo, when a 452 does 1/2" with ease.

Every rifle and their ammo preference are different. You may or may not be disappointed.

My experience with 50 and 100 meter shooting was with my CZ Varmint, Style and the Savage MKIIF, back in 2009 when my eyes were better. I'd say these three rifles shot pretty much the same with cheap Winchester Dynapoint bulk. They could shoot, smaller than 1 inch 5-shot groups, at 100 meters, maybe 3 out of 5 tries on a calm morning. Perhaps I got lucky on that day or lucky with the particular rifles. Who knows.

The point I want to stress is that those groups were with cheap bulk ammo, which may or never happen, or be available again. I still have some Dynapoint ammo but not sure if they were from the same lot number. Anyways, I am so cheap that I will never shoot anything but bulk .22. For me, .22 is meant to be a cheaper aspect of the shooting hobby. I cringe everytime I shoot $.35 .223 ammo in my AR. I dont reload .223. I don't mind shooting hundreds of rounds of 45 and 9 cos I cast and reload for them. That's just me and my sense of values.

Since 2009, I haven't shot 100 meters at all because of hobby time constraints. as well as joining an indoor club. At this indoor club with 17 meter maximum range, all my CZs, Savages and Marlins are .25 inch one-holers, LOL!

This year, I signed up with an outdoor range with 100 meters and will try all my rifles including the Annies, with cheap bulk ammo.

I have owned a lot of savages over the years and they have all been great shooters.
They aren't always pretty, but they shoot.
