Most Accurate Inexpensive .22's?

Might as well throw in a shameless plug for a site sponsor here. I bought mine at Reliable Gun in Vancouver, $289 i think, they might even still have a couple of them. Good guys to deal with too.

yeah i bought mine for around the same price and have feeding and extraction issues. marlin wasnt helpful at all for warranty.

First best we difine accuracy? Then inexpensive!
*NS522 Norinco cost new 250.00 used now cause of demand 3-350.00 accuracy with proper trigger work and bedding my best shot with this rifle was a .136@50m 5shot CenterX group average .275 I currently own 2 great for the price point.
*Remington model5 Zastava cost new 300.00 hard to find do to demand 3-400.00 accuracy with tons of factory trigger adjustments my best shot .097@50m 5shot .265 average
Ammunition is everything try everything I’ve purchased many peace’s with poor expectations from others and tuned some great groups.
When defining accuracy it’s one mans definition over another or expections..numbers don’t lie but remember it’s still the Cracker Jack behind the trigger.

Amen to the above words

The NS522 was an amazing rifle; they have been re-introduced as the Scorpio EM320 with a different stock and a shorter barrel. Tenda has them on right now for 189.99. I owned one for a couple years, and it shot amazingly well; the stock is good and solid and very comfortable. I developed a taste for CZ rimfires, so it had to go to make room. It was as accurate as the CZs, it's action was smooth, trigger was very good, sights were better than a lot of other factory sights. Barrel to stock fit was a bit lose, but a little JB plastic added to the stock in the right places tightened it up. These are well built shooter. I was able to get an extra mag with mine, and they were not expensive either. BTW, the bluing is really, really nice too.

Nork JWs are good shooters too.

Got the rifle today... initial impression is surprisingly positive. Gave it a solid dose of TLC and it seems to be running very nicely. The bolt close is quite heavy but may ease up with use. No doubt the lock up and headspace are going to be rock solid. The bolt closes with a really firm feel. Operation is smooth but needed some polishing... again, not something I am surprised to need to do.

Trigger is a nice surprise. will drop the pull weight but creep is very low and likely can be dialed out.

Added a 20 MOA rail, smoothed all the edges and bedded the action. The stock may look goofy but the ergonomics are really comfy. I expected the comb would be too low but it is right where I like it... I also have a very tall scope height which is enough to clear the rear sight.

I really like the pistol grip contours which rate better then many AR grip. Can be used with thumb on the side after a bit of relief was sanded into the side of the stock

Mags are surprisingly well made and lock up very nicely. Sharp edges and tight spots but a couple of minutes with some 400grit sandpaper, all done and mags drop free.

Bolt knob is way too close to the side of the stock and will get modded.

I hope this rifle shoots as well as some report.

I still like the Savage Mark II,,, frugal price tag and they shoot good....

Mine is the standard barrel...

Lots of gophers and a hand full of coyotes and beaver control on the farm...

American Egale ammo,,, I've run just about every brand of frugal ammo in this rifle and they all seem to work...

CCI target ammo when I'm at the range...

25 feet on out to 300 meters,,, very predictable triggers on them...

$147 Cnd funds with tax in a few years ago...

Congrats!!! If you can put a bit of white Lithium Grease on the bolt, that will keep it nice and lubricated while it wears in; I use it on anything that "slides" in new guns, and we use it at work on die-sets. It stays where you put it, and is easy to clean. Any questions, just ask.

I've had a few Savage Mk II & M93 models over the years and they were very accurate for the money. The FV-SR versions in particular.
The one Norinco JW 25a I had 10 yrs back was fookin' amazingly accurate despite a so-so trigger. They be hefty buggers but they can shoot well.

I'll add now the incredible Winchester Model 72/72A
You can get them really cheap used. They're built like tanks. Big thick long barrel on it. Tight smooth as butter action. Slickest feeding and loading tube fed I've seen.
Unbelievably accurate as well.

It has now displaced my beloved 597 as most accurate and all around awesome 22 rifle for the price.

I'm honestly saddened at the amount of time I've been shooting and wasn't enjoying one. It was missing and I didnt even know it!

I would add my vote for a Savage Mark II. Various models. My friends at the range had a few different models and they were all accurate. All I ever used was cheap bulk ammo but I’m sure I could narrow down the accuracy even more with higher priced ammo. At the cost of sounding repetitive, that’s my vote. 13 pages of this? Must be quite the popular part of this hobby.

Nice day, around 8C but windy and gusty... 6 to 12 mph. At the Oliver rifle section, you shoot between 2 berms forming a tunnel. It will either shelter you with little effect or blow through swirling and switching. Well, I got the later today

IMG_3061.jpg

Kept the ammo warm and it worked great. Did some shooting at 50yds but it was gusting all over the place... targets were flapping and lifting. I leave some old targets to act as wind flags. Still got some very nice results with CenterX and Rifle match.

IMG_3072.jpg

Decided to move to 100yds to see how it would handle the wind. This was the best group of the day with SK Rifle match... just under 3/4" 5rds in a bit of a lull.

IMG_3073.jpg

Instead of shooting anymore groups, I just had some fun and 'chased the spotter'. It is very simple way to test if the rifle/ammo combo is working as it should. Going by where the last shot landed (the spotter), you hold off and hopefully, that shot goes into the center. This 10rds was with Center X also at 100yds

The first 2 shots went left and are less then 1/2" apart. Held for the wind and plunked shots 3 to 7 into that cluster. Then the wind let off causing a shot to the right (#8). Waited a few seconds and took a guess on what the new wind might be... apparently much stronger then I guessed putting shot #9 near shot# 2. Made a fast final shot with the same hold as #9 and it fell into the hole from shot #2

I am very impressed with how this combo could be driven. I think on a calm day at 100yds, sub 1" should be pretty straight forward. The group size for shots 3 to 7 is just under 3/4".

Took a few remaining shots at a rock at 190yds and it hit no problem.

This will certainly do anything you are going to need in LR PRS and NRL22 games. It will need more TLC to make operations smoother and easier. Feeding was a bit stiff and ejection needed a firm snap of the bolt to ensure the case came out. Trigger pull was a bit heavier then I liked but feel was not bad at all.

Happily surprised that this rifle can shoot so well.

Jerry
