Most accurate light Ruger 10/22?

Is there such a thing? Or do you have to go to the laminate heavy stainless steel barrel to get an accurate Ruger 10/22 these days? I have a takedown and I have an older one from the 70s but I haven’t kept up with the different models and which are most accurate these days,
I just want to buy the most accurate one that won’t break my back carrying it

I also have a 10/22. Mine is from 1972, and still shoots amazing 1 hole 5 shot groups at 50 yards. I would expect that the new ones are not as accurate. As to reliability, mine has never jammed or broken in 45 years, I would expect the new ones to be as good. I also doubt if there is a better 22 semi auto than a Ruger.
However maybe someone who has recently bought a new one, could give their 2 cents?
 
The laminate is heavy, too heavy for a comfortable walk in the woods. A lightweight gun would be a Browning SA,plenty to be found used

Been shooting an older basic Ruger 10 - 22 for years and I don't have any complaints with it's accuracy . sure the heavy barreled one might be somewhat more accurate but you'll have all that added weight . just put a decent scope on it and sight it in . a nice 3x9 .
 
The barrel weight of a Ruger 10/22 doesn’t effect accuracy a whole bunch. A HB “target” model has terrible accuracy.

Maybe there is older 10/22’s in existence that shoot okay but that seems unlikely. If it’s a Ruger it probably isn’t going to shoot worth a darn.

Changing the barrel will make a huge difference even on a factory rifle. The Kidd Ultralight barrels are very good shooters and weigh almost nothing. If you want lightweight accuracy just get a Kidd UL.
 
Green Mountain makes barrels that duplicate the factory sporter contour, as well as a "Heavy Taper" that sort of splits the difference between the sporter and .920" bull barrels.

A shorter bull barrel is another option. A 10/22 with a 16" bull barrel should weigh around 6 lbs, give or take, depending on the stock.

Alternately, if you want something that is inexpensive, light, and accurate, Marlin 795s seem to have a good reputation.
