Most affordable barrel installer

Always find it troubling how many people spend $2000 on an action, $500-$600 on a barrel, $200-$400 on a trigger and then look for the best deal on the most crucial part of the rifle system; you get what you pay for.

You can get barrels installed in alberta from $140 all the way to $550, I agree with the above statement you’ve spent a good chunk of cash to buy some great components why would you want to cheap out on the most important part of the whole operation.

I don’t wanna cheap out I just don’t wanna pay a fortune for a barre install lol. Who would you guys recommend? I live in Manitoba and don’t know of anybody nearby

There are many good rifle builders across the country. I’d suggest doing a google search and see who gets great reviews in your province and not worry about 100$ this way or that.
I don’t trust my rifles, and hard earned money to anyone but Insite in AB, they do amazing work, and pretty easy on CGN to hear tons of people rave about their magic, plus a reputable builder also is much more likely to stand behind their work and guarantee it as well.

This. ^^^
You certainly cannot do better than Insite Arms.

Oops. I reread the OP's post.
He wants the most affordable; I can't speak to that.

I’ve got to agree with redrams9 - Insite are excellent to deal with. I’ve had 4 builds by them and also own a 5th I purchased used on here: all are exceptional quality rifles. More to the point, they stand behind their work so if you have an issue they are there for you.

Install prices will vary considerably from rifle to rifle... Is the new barrel contour exactly the same so no contouring or stock inletting is required... is barrel finishing required (polishing, bluing, blasting?) Does the barrel breech require milling for an extractor ? (like a pre-64 70) Does the barrel need to be indexed? (Fluted barrels)

A simple bolt action that require no milling of a round barrel are the cheapest to do. For a few years now I have been charging $250 to thread, chamber, headspace, crown and stamp the barrel. As precise as I can do it... No stock work, no finishing.

John Marshall - one of his builds was in the top ten in the FClass World Championship 2017 and have won many provincial and Atlantic titles, Canadian TR championships as well as being used in Palma and at Bisley. Other builders are fine, but John has the best prices. He started as assistant machinist at Maritime Steel and finished as Vice President of Production having built bridges from Cape Breton to Boston. 35 years experience as gunsmith and still putting out nice builds.

Best regards,

Peter

Do you work on Winchesters? I'd love to have you install a barrel for me but I thought you only do Remington work. If so, I'll PM you.
