I hate buying new guns in calibers I don't already own, cause now I have to do a load in to have some on hand in case I want to take it to the range...

I am having trouble finding in stock .45LC for less than $42 a box of 50... eventually I'll reload for it but I usually buy some factory rounds first to make sure I'll enjoy shooting it before investing in dies and extra components then I'll already have once fired brass to use.

Anyone shoot it and know of some more 'cost effective sources'? I figure with a popular Cowboy load like this there would be a lot of options that aren't $1 a round

Yeah....sorry, dude. .45 LC is insanely expensive at the best of times. Reloading is the only cheaper option.

Notice I said "cheaper", not "cheap".

Go ahead and buy the gear you need. If it doesn't ring your bell, you can always sell it on CGN. There's enough .45 guys here that'll snap it up in a heartbeat.

All the 45LC ammo I've seen are about a buck a round. Sucks, but the only time I'd buy a 45LC is if I started reloading.... guess it's time for me to buy a 45LC SAA now. :)
