I just ran across this one wow $1800 bucks for A $800 rifle !! How long will it be before the cost the cost is over 2K for one. For $1800 it should be A M1D or somthing, makes me sad to see such inflated prices on these rifles. Anyways I feel for the poor bastard who buys this one.

I know. Some people... Like this idiot trying to sell repro flags for $15 a piece:

Seriously, that's a prick move. If you don't like his price, don't buy it.

If you think m1 garands are expensive here....try australia.....with their dollar at 1.08 US......$2000.00/$3000.00!

If you don't like the price, make him an offer and move on.
It's a nice Garand, he'll probably get that or near it. And I'd bet it's worth it to the right collector. I'd love to have it.
And the 2k price tag on an M1? That's ancient history, already happened. And btw I've been offered more for my LL M1.
If it was yours, you would probably ##### if the prices were going down. Do everyone a favor, and don't taint someone else's EE business. Shows little class IMO.

Here we go again, penny pinching haters trying to talk down the Garand market... Hey folks there are plenty of buck fifty SKS to be had....:D

BEST... POST... EVER!!!

For real though, what business is it of yours? It's his rifle, let him sell it for whatever he wants. After all, something is only worth what someone will pay for it.

That is a b!tch move.

Doubt that 1800 is that far out of reach as I paid $900 for a Breda Garand in excellent condition only 2 years ago. Couldn't find one anywhere on the prairies that wasn't beat all to hell on the stock for less than $1200.

Tnt in Regina had a I.H Garand that he was looking for at least $1500 if he wanted to sell it, wasn't sure he wanted to let it go and the stock was truly awful, didn't ask how it shot either.

Glad somebody caught my meaning. And that's my point. The OP shouldn't be whining about people's EE threads. The reason that EE threads cannot be replied to by people is to prevent what the OP is doing... whining.

Setting aside any discusssion of price, there is an assertion that this rifle has a Match barrel installed. I see no evidence of this being a match barrel-none of the distinctive National Match markings or the unique drawing numbers for the later NM barrels.

What I do see is a nice clean unit with a standard barrel showing US importation stampings from the late 1980s/early 1990s timeframe. I also see a stock with a Red River Army Depot (RRAD) overhaul stamp.

I wouldn't pay any additional premium on account of the barrel. When prices do get elevated to this level for an overhauled, versus non-original configuration, rifle one should look for evidence of barrel erosion at muzzle and throat. A reading on the appropriate gauges or at least the "reversed M2ball bullet test" in the muzzle would be expected.

Some folks believe that installing various National Match components, incl front and rear sights, op rod, or gas cylinder will make a Garand much more accurate. Not true. It is how the rifle is put together with quality parts that determines accuracy.

I tend to agree with the OP. It's only worth what someone else will pay for it though. That's why these guys tend to bump their posts 20 or so times and I love it how no one ever posts what the guns actually sell for to give everyone else a sense of reality. I've seen some Garands up for 1500 and them you see SPF. Give me a break it's not like someone actually paid that for it. 3 yrs ago I had one posted for 750.00 I actually ended up selling it for 650.00 the same week. Some people are realistic and some are just plain greedy.

Just saw the post and the prospective buyer is getting a few extras in that purchase too.

The simple reason Garand price keeps going up is because it's the real deal, not some Norc knock-offs.
