Most expensive thing lost hunting

Well is was out hunting today and came home to find that I lost my favorite bi-pod $150 laying somewhere in the Saskatchewan hillside.

So whats been the most expensive thing you've lost in the field?? I think the worst would have to be a rifle which I hope to never do...knock on wood.

Hmmm... given the investment in firearms saftey training, licensing, registration, safe storage, purchase of a firearm, cost of ammunition, hunter education, more licensing, various fees, vehicle rental, misc. equipment and clothing... all for the sole purpose of ruffed grouse hunting ... ($1500?) ... I guess the most expensive thing I've lost in the field was the crafty little bush chicken that managed to give me the slip last weekend (the only one I saw after 2 days ... but we can't put a $$ value on our time)

Quite a few years back I lost almost all of my hunting gear. Truck got swallowed up trying to cross a mountain river and thousands of dollars in gear went floating down the river. Man I miss that stuff

That was one long night...

Quad broke down on way in to moose camp--couldn't carry all the stuff in one trip on the other quad, got back and found the booze box had been swiped--40 of Bailey's, 2 40's of Rum and a couple bottles of Red wine.

I "lost" a friends $250 watch.....but it turned up in my truck about a month after we got back......

My dad and I where hunting on horseback and decided to take a shortcut back to camp. After an hour of bushwacking we got out to the main trail to find my dad's rifle missing (H. Dumoulin in 308 Norma) from its scabbard
It was getting dark, but back in the bush we went. Came across it hanging from a tree branch about 20 mins. in.
One reason I never carry my rifle in a scabbard with the butt to the back

Four years ago my son and I went up to our moose camp in late November. We normally park the vehicle and trailer at a safe place at a farmers place but because everything was frozen over we decided to head closer to the camp by vehicle. We managed to get within about a mile of camp and on the way in we managed to shoot a nice young bull moose. Did all the gutting and quartered the moose and left it in the truck box. Went on to the camp and set up. We still had another tag to fill. Next morning I headed back to the truck to check things out. Guess what. Moose was gone, all four tires were gone from the truck. Four tires on trailer were slashed and side of truck was damaged. Lucky we had the quads as it was a 35 mile ride back to civilization. Had to phone brother and a friend to bring us some truck and trailer tires. They came next day. Do not park in the bush anymore. Total cost was somewhere around 4000 bucks.

Deanx, on this board, lost his laser range finder. Lucky for him I found it about a week or two later
