Hi,
what would you say is the most popular AR15 barrel length and why. Is it under 10", 10.5". 14.5" or the 16" and why is it because of the look or is it the cool factor to have a shorter barrel. Is there a perfect compromise like the 14.5" being in between the 10.5" and the 16". What is your favourate lenght, does size really matter (barrels please, hahaha)?

Don't forget the 20's, there's lots of them out there too.

But I'd have to agree with Trinimon, 14.5-16" would most likely be the most common.

I don't know wich one is the Most popular, but in my opinion the 14.5 is the best compromise. It's short, can easyly be used in CQB situations and can reach targets over 300y without any problems.

A good rifle is the best compromise.....

You guys talking just civi ARs or are you considering military stuff beginning with "C-" and "M-" as well? That might change the 20" ratio a bit.

16" probably by a landslide, if only just to avoid the US tax stamp.

In Canada, 14.5" is the most common I've seen.

18" on its way to me though! (To stay US friendly)

The M16 Platform was designed for 20 inch barrels. The gas pluse psi is minimal, and has less stress on gas affected parts. Carbines are the fad, but 20 inch is where you get best ballistics for military ammo. I say have one or 2 of each...

MIL-SPEC is what I like to go for personally. Unless is it's totally usless like the C7A2 cocking handle.

Used to be 20"s then 16"s and now it seems to be CQB or PDW lengths, I hear that 14.5" with a mid-length gas tube is a great compromise...

Anything under 16 isn't going to be very popular as the US dominates the AR-15 market and they have their silly SBR laws.

I'd say 14-16 and 20 inch barrel lengths are the most popular ones out there.
