Hi Everyone
I'm working on my first powder order & and am trying to narrow it down.
I'm trying to figure out what the most popular types of Powder used is?
And also whether 1 lb or 8lb container is better?
What will move the quickest?

So, please give me some input.
Also if you want something specific please PM me.
Regards, Henry

He is looking for input on what to bring in.
Hodgdon extreme powders, H1000, Varget, Benchmark, H4831SC, H4350, etc.. Mail order, I would assume 8lb would be best. No one wants to pay the shipping for 1lb of powder.

You make a good point on the mail order for 1 lb.
If the price is right, most if not all would spring for the 8lb any way.........Logic is that if you are all ready reloading and shipping and investing time into the process, the 8lb container would keep you going for much longer.

IMR 4895 and 4064 is what I see many or most of the rifle reloaders use...Including my self.

I just bought last weekend and today:

Unique
Green Dot
Bullseye

for handguns

H4895
Varget
IMR 4198

for rifles

Hope that helps.

I would not be interested in 8 lb canisters. Shipping, if at cost is really not that expensive.

I worked at P&D for a few years and I'd say we sold more than 200 1lb bottles of powder for every 4 or 8 pounder that was sold, for most guys buying powder 1 pound loads over 100 rounds.
Accurate Arms powders are tough to find in Western Canada, the 1680 in particular is a very well regarded powder in small rifle cases. Alliant powders are real popular. I think that you are going to have stiff competition from Higginsons with Hodgdon and IMR powders. FS

Thanks for all of your input everyone. I'm just hoping that I've chosen the right powders to bring in. I'm hoping I can serve Western Canada with more great products & service.
Here's my list so far, in order of popularity. WIN 231 isn't on the list because my supplier is all out.
1) Varget
2) Unique
3) IMR 4350
4) IMR 4831 Short Cut
5) IMR 4895
6) BLc2
7) Titegroup
8) RL17
9) RL15
10) Bullseye
11) Trailboss

What does everyone think?
