Most powerful shotgun load?

I assume it would be a home reloaded, not commercially available, shell
i have some 3.5 inch ten guage slugs in the ammo cabinet . not sure of the specs but i am thinking they might be in the running .as for fireballs you can get an impressive flame from the 8.5 inch barreled dlask guns .

Probably the 3.5inch 000 buckshot 10 gauge magnum. I don't have one myself, and the largest shotgun I own takes merely 10 gauge 2 7/8inch BP loads.
I did touch off a few 12 gauge BB 3.5inch lead quite a few years ago through a buddy's Mossberg UltraMag. That had some recoil to remember.

Factory load? People have mentioned the commercial 8 gauge loads. As far as I know, these are only for the Winchester or Remington industrial 'ring blaster' kiln guns. They have various industrial uses.

From what I can tell, the Winchester gun is made on a heavily reinforced martini style action, but to be honest I have never seen one of these devices up close.
One of the loads listed is an 8 pellet zinc buckshot load. Each pellet is 0.425" in diameter - yikes!
As for something you could hunt with, Federal makes a foster slug load in 10 gauge which features a 1-3/4 ounce slug with a muzzle velocity of 1280 feet per second.
I have heard that over in the UK, you can still hunt ducks with the old school punt guns. Not sure what the legal limit is with regards to bore size, I am thinking all the way up to 4 bore or maybe 2 bore? Usually you don't fire the punt guns from the shoulder but from a punt. The gun is roped into the boat. The boat & rope takes up the recoil.

600 gr brenneke gold 3" hit the hardest from a 12 ga.
3.5" 00 buck is fun for the shoulder.
2.25 oz #4 kick quite good from my 10 ga double
Absolute worst recoil was a handloading experiment. I won't give the exact load as it was well over max book but I got a 7/8 oz hard cast slug over a chrony at 2290 fps. Gun was a cooey single shot.
