Looking to get my first .22 handgun - needs to be rock solid, utterly dependable; think Glock/Ak47 in terms of sheer unbreakability and being future-proof, works full of dirt, crap, etc.

Recommendations? Can be either pistol or revolver, but must meet the above criteria.

My Farher's k-22 Materpeice ( 17) was purchased LONG before I was born and, is still rock solid!

Certainly not a "bling gun" but, solid, dependable (for any possible range issues!) and, a very accurate (in the right hands...put a Barn's broadside on a legal range and, it'll be quite safe from me with ANY pistol)

Think Russian...

MCM Margolin... not exactly pretty (but you do get used to it)... and I've yet to have one jam on me (even using dirty Remington Cyclone ammo).

My first 22 pistol was a S&W model 41; an absolutely beautiful gun, and accurate as he!!.....and so dam* picky for ammo that it took the fun out of shooting it some days. It was no fun having 800 bucks tied up in a gun that caused such frustration so I sold it, bought a Browning Buck Mark for less than half the price, and am very happy with the decision. The Buck Mark is nearly as accurate as the 41, the grips are amazing, and it eats any ammo you feed it. It should be on your list to consider, especially with those great grips.

i have a ruger mk3 and a norinco woodsman , the norinco seems to be more reliable lol ive shot three 500 round boxes of cheap wallmart winchester, 1500 rounds no hiccups , the ruger wont do that with that ammo. go figure i think i just got a good one.

The browning buckmarks are a great little unit too.
I can tell you without a doubt though that the SIG Mosquito is one of the fussiest, most frustrating guns I have ever had the displeasure of owning. That thing fails if you look at it wrong !

I have two colts huntsman, and match target both are trouble free. at gun club the guy with the most trouble shoots a smith 17 maybe just a bad one.
