What is the most reliable (from a feeding and extraction standpoint) .22RF semi-auto pistol that you have experience with?

Mine has been a Beretta 71 single action. It feeds and extracts everything including junky bulk pack ammo. It has been more reliable than the Ruger MKII that I had.

What has been your experience?

I had a MKII that worked well with Mini Mags, a Glock 17C that worked well with a AA conversion kit and presently have a Sig P229 Classic 22 that I don't have too many rounds through but it is as smooth as butter.

I don't know about most reliable but right up there was a Norinco m93.....no kidding, it would feed anything and everything until it got really dirty. Then it would have light strikes because the slide wouldn't close completely on the new round because the chamber was so dirty.

MCM Margolin and Walther GSP... Can easily go a thousand rounds between cleaning.

Most picky, a stainless Ruger MK2 and a S&W M41..

Long or short barreled Margo?

The sights on it are weird.

I've only seen the long-barrel Margolin in Canada...

The idea behind the funny sight setup (Front from elevation and rear for windage) is that these guns are built for 'club' use... and that new shooters would be clicking with the sight. Having the two movement on different parts reduce the wear and tear on the axis... There's also a little 'set' screw to hold the sight in place once addjusted.

I personnally have yet to wear out a set of sights on any of my guns... But I have long given up trying to make sense of the Russian firearm designers (I just enjoy their work :D)

Ah, no wonder, the barrel would be too short. :kickInTheNuts:

It's really a shame, though... The sights mar an otherwise great value handgun.

I just had my Ruger Mk.1 5.5in bull barrel out today, and quite honestly, it eats any ammo I feed it, and over a couple of thousand rounds, I've only ever had a handful of extraction failures.
Very accurate and a fantastic trigger, too.

I have a Star Model FR Sport, that is reliable. However it is my '10 yard handgun' for newby shooters to use.
This is because like stevebc, I too have a much more accurate Ruger MkII bull barrel.
It also works great with almost any ammunition, of ample power to cycle the action.

I ADORE my Buckmark....... The only time I had a function problem was when I tried Dynapoint GT's...... 150 and the slide wouldn't fully close so it wouldn't fire.

I usually clean it once a month, so about 1000 rnds ish, I clean it because I feel to guilty otherwise, not because it needs it.

I have shot/tested Ruger MK I, II, III, 22/45, S&W 41, 622, 2206, a Colt woodsman, a woodsman clone, Browning Challenger & the Buckmark I own (plus various other revolvers).

IMHO the Buckmark is the best of the bunch.

P.S. When I say "tested" I mean "tested for my own benefit" during research to find the one I wanted to buy......

Cheers

What he said.

I tried Rugers, Margolins, IZH's, Buckmarks, S&W 41, Pardini, Walther P22, Unique, Domino/FAS etc. - can't remember them all. Things that never jammed on me were P22, Margolin, Unique (with some exception for certain ammo) and Pardini SP. I put 1000's of rounds through each of those mentioned by the way, so "testing" was rather extensive. Things that were jamming quite a bit were Buckmarks and Rugers. Had fair share of tuning troubles with Domino until I got it working fine.

What were you feeding your P22? I've read SO MANY accounts of it not feeding properly, that I have to ask.

I'd love to get a really light-weight .22 handgun so that I can actually feel the recoil.
