Most reliable 9mm

Most reliable in term of rounds fired between stoppages and ability to use wide verity of ammo I'd have to go with Beretta 92 and Glock 17.
For people saying CZ 75, sorry but nope. I love mine, but it's way too picky about ammo OAL to be on the list. Also I had a P226 that was just jamomatic -couldn't even go thru a box of ammo with out a jam!

Personally, the M&P9 full size is first, the one I have now is one of 2 guns on my don't sell list and the only one that earned it's spot the hard way. 42,000+ rounds with no malfunctions that were not directly attributable to ammo - and then only a half dozen or so of those. It's been used very hard and responded like a champ. Incidentally, I also have a Norc Compact in 45 with 6500 rounds on it without any issues of any kind - but it doesn't see the abuse that the M&P gets, 1911's aren't ready for that.
I've personally shot a few norinco's, a cz shadow, a ruger and an m&p( all my buddys toys)...i like them all, still haven't made my first handgun purchase yet.
But like others have said, handle as many as you can, shoot as many as your buddys will allow...go from there

US Army did most extensive testing of ALL available 9mm SA pistols in the whole world.

You mean DA first shot and SA on the remaining shots. Single action only 9mm pistols, like the Browning Hi-Power, were not tested when the US looked to replace the 1911-A1 in the XM9 trials. Also the SIG 226 actually tied with the Beretta M92 but lost out in the end due to the Beretta having a lower price.

I can only speak from my experience... I own many different 9mms. The first I bought is my best: pre-B CZ75. Most accurate, most reliable. So much so I am trying to acquire a SP-01 Shadow as the most current incarnation of this firearm. That said, there are several I have limited experience with: M&P, Steyr, H&K... The rest I have tried extensively, and MY CZ beats them all. YMMV.
Since you are located in Delta BC you NEED to go and rent some guns over at DVC to try them out. While you are there ask the guys about which are the most reliable. If it can be messed up or broken you will find that the heavy use those rental guns see will make them break.
There actually won't be ANY that they have had for a year or more which do not break something. But some will have had less failures or operating issues than some others.
Having said this you will find that any of the main line brands and models will all be very reliable. I'm not sure what you are expecting but the bottom line is that any of them will work well. But equally as true is that these ARE mechanical devices that are withstanding quite a lot of shock with every trigger pull. So it's not unreasonable to break the odd part now and then.
To expect 100% long term reliability is not realistic. But to think that some guns will jam and produce operational issues on a regular basis is no more realistic than expecting any gun to last forever with no broken parts.

I have owned a glock gen 2 since 1986 and it has never failed to feed or fire, even when I loaded different loads, grains, ammo manufacturers into the magazine, it just keeps firing until the magazine is empty! That is rain or shine, snow or cold, dirty or clean, its just one tough machine!
Please go to DVC Ventures in Coquitlam and try out a bunch of different gun. Find one that fits you and then go with it.
Me for example I thought I always wanted a beretta... well when fired one it didn't feel right.. tried holding it differently and still the gun did not fit me... same with the CZ...tried the glock and bought a glock...
as long as you stick with one of the brands lists previously in this thread you will be ok as long and the gun feels right to you.

Norc 1911 in 9mm.
After a trigger job, tuneup and decent sights this girl has holster wear and thousands of rounds through it. Shoots accurately, feeds anything and not one hiccup since the get go. What's not to like for a $350 + $200 worth of smithing gun. Other than my .22's this one gets shot the most.

Beretta 92 is reliable for sure, but not as durable as other pistols without some preventative maintenance. Run a 15# spring and change it every 5000 rounds, replace locking block every 10,000 rounds or sooner if it's worn or cracked, run it well lubed always and it will last a long time.
