Most Reliable Semi auto.

so in total not a huge quantity of the best reliable semi available on the canadian market ...

You guys attemptng to distinguish between the movie-prop G36s and the more recent parts guns imported by TI (among others), on the basis of reliability are kidding yourselves. Assuming all HK German parts, there is zero functional difference between a factory-proofed G36 and one assembled from various parts bins with mismatched serial numbers on the Receiver and Trigger Group. Both rifles will function identically in terms of reliability, exactly as they were designed to do. Military firearms are very deliberately designed such that the parts are completely interchangeable, with zero impact upon function and reliability. The G36 is no different and the vast majority of the imported parts guns had all original, German HK Parts in them.

The exception to the above are the most recent TI imports with substitute critical US pqarts such as 1he Bolt and Barrel. No one can vouch for the reliability of those cobbled-together rrfles as the HK Desert Test data does not apply to them. There is no telling how those Barrels and/or Bolts will perform and when they will fail, unlike the genuine HK Parts which are known to run 26K rounds without cleaning nor any stoppages,

Equipped with all German HK Parts, a G36 is a G36, is a G36.... The later franken-guns do not count and should not have been manufactured to turn a quick buck in the first place. Those rifles cloud the G36 line in Canada, potentially impacting the otherwise stellar reputation for reliability.

i got that Mark that some real g36 hit the canadian market but how many in total? i do remember following your input on some g36 discussions and it was a while ago.

There was 10 or 11 authentic ones that came in as movie props years ago and were sold to civilians

Tactical imports guns that came decades later are built from parts kits and not what I am talking about.

There has been a few G36's imported from the USA by irunguns as well.

The only difference between these few guns that made it to Canada and the ones in military service is the trigger group that can be easily swapped with the select fire one

Anyways, the op asked for the most reliable available, and it still is.

There were way more than 10 or 11.

This is a flash back to early 2000, like 2001 to 2002.

Some came through quebec, some came from BC and some came from Ontario. The old Target sports ( before JR@TSE took over ) alone imported more than 10, all G36KP and UMP. They got shut out when they tried to do a second run when HK got wind of what they were doing, Wolverine was on board with them in that order ( I place my order mine through wolverine and got my money back. They were sold for around 3K to 4K ish.)

The BC side came with with a bunch of G36C and G36K (P )

The G36E non-restricted came from quebec. I bought it for around 6K from the importer, that was more than 10% of my yearly income back in those days. I sold it to BadboyBeeon at S&J. The quebec ones came with a bayonent and two mags each.

And I wont doubt there are even more that were not advertised and imported by movie people quietly as "favours" for friends and associates.

Years ago I did a count the number is likely over 60 to 80.

And what you said about the trigger group .....no point of doing this here.

thank you GT for bringing back the historical part of it.

Add to GT's number the more recent unregulated import of G36 Parts Kits assembled in Canada with Gernan Barrels and Bolts. These "Parts Guns" with mis-matched Serial Numbers and lacking German Proof-House Markings were initially sold by word of mouth for $6K. After the first dozen or so sold out, TI offered all-German guns for $8K for several shipments. Then the pricing split as US supplies of German Barrels and Bolts began to dry up. All-German G36s could still be had for a premium based on the additional purchase and installation of a genuine German Barrel and Bolt instead of US replacement Bolts and Barrels spun from Lothar-Walther Barrel Blanks.

Fast-forward to today and the sales of G36s have once again slowed to the point of private sales only. Word on the street was that TI had imported several hundred G36 Parts Kits. Whether that is true, accurate or relevant is up to you, but it is safe to say that TI moved several batches comprising dozens of G36 parts rifles over a handful of years pre-dating the 2020 OIC.

Unfortunately most of the G36 threads on those imports were before this CGN database version. Most of the G36 talks happened between 2001 to 2003, they were gone with the 2nd db and the Ezboard era.

I think TSC imported around 30 G36K andUMP at that time. The batch of G36E I bought in was about 6-8. Such a long time my numbers could be off.

Yeah same here. I would gladly overpay for Barnaul now and it's too bad I didn't get an SKS till this year - I remember seeing this ammo everywhere, aplenty. I see Barnaul even sold hollow point 7.62x39, not just the FMJ stuff.

That's good advice on the Norinco. Assuming things has been a bit of a pitfall of mine over the years and I'd hate to assume that ammo that sells for half the price as their brass-cased counterparts, would not have any QC issues.

Just get ballistol and mix in water in a 1:10 solution. Flush with that instead and when it evaporates it will leave a layer of oil on stuff. Gtg.
