Looking to buy an air rifle for pest control.
I would like the quietest available.
I believe pcp units are the quietest, but have no experience on which to base this opinion.
Kinda like the cz hunter model.
Advice / experiences / guidance would be appreciated.

Thx

Nitro spring does not make as much noise as High pressure air or CO2 as no gas is expelled from the barrel... The gas is contained inside the cylinder which replaces the spring.....KEN.

I agree with Wrong Way. CB caps are much quieter than an air rifle.
PCP makes a fairly loud crack, and springers make a lot of mechanical noise.

I agree with the CBs. The airguns that are available in Canada are NOT quiet. I hear the quietest would probably be a nitro pistol Crosman break open. CO2 2400s, a pump 2289, my Discovery and my QB alll have a fair report. I think it would be quite recognizable as a gunshot sound.

Trust me on this: 24" (or longer) barrel bolt action .22 shooting CCI CB's.....more powerful than 99.99% of air rifles, and stupidly quiet...quieter than any air gun you can buy in Canada.

I use my Savage Rascal with this ammo. Out of it's 16.25 inch barrel the CCI CB's are VERY quiet.
My Crossman 760 at 3 pump's is a lot louder.

If it's quiet, it won't have enough power to do the job. My Diana 34 and Gamo Viper sound like a .22 LR. Even the sub 500 fps guns are fairly loud. I recorded the report from all my air guns from a distance and was surprised how loud they were.

22lr bolt action or lever action with a 22 inch barrel shooting CCI Quiet ammo. I found it less then a spring pellet gun....

I think the original question was the quietest "AIRGUN"..... nothing about .22 rim fire....yes CB caps are very quiet & powerful too, maybe too powerful for some applications.....KEN.

Thanks for our input....but it was established earlier that he wants an air gun for pesting (powerful enough to kill) and he wanted it quiet....and it was pointed out that there's NO SUCH THING that is legal here. So rather than leave it at that, alternative helpfull suggestions were made.

Im failing to see your issue....?

Crosman's latest improvement "Nitro Piston" replaces the conventional spring with a gas piston. The box on my Nitro Venom Dusk says up too 70% quieter than spring based power plants. I used to easily shoot in my backyard with bothering anybody.
