Most versatile bullet out there... 150gr .308 SP?

If you wanted a single do-it-all bullet, Id be looking in the 165-180 grain range.

Remember, the dirty-thirty is often loaded with 170gr bullets, another 10gr won't make it unusable all the sudden.

I'd say a 150 is too light for the 300 mags. 180 or even 200 are my preference there. Hell, i prefer 180s in the 30-06 too...

For the most versatile bullet, the new Hornady ELD-X might be it. They say it's designed as a match bullet but with great hunting characteristics. Not sure if you can get them in Canada yet, but I would think a 178 grain ELD-X is something you could use in your 308, 30-06, and 300WM. Only difference between the three would be muzzle velocities.

I'm not saying it is the best idea in the world. But if you want to simplify and use one bullet, that's what I'd do.

Well I am definitely in Bear country here. And the consensus seems to be 165/180 grain .308 bullets. I plan on keeping both my 308s and both my 30-06s because they are by far the easiest to find brass for as well.

I use imr 4895 for 30-30 and .308 work well in 30-06 for the cousin so is a great powder
29.5gn whit 160ftx for the 30-30
39gn whit 165 SGK for the .308
44gn whit 200 rn for the 30-06

Maybe is me but i have 1 powder and reload all i have each caliber have is bullet/application
30-30 6 lbs 100v deer killer brush gun
308 200v deer/black bear killer whit sub moa accuracy
30-06 is the old gun for moose iron sight (4~6 inch at 100v) but moose was always shoot under 50v so no need more

For all around bullet maybe 165 tsx or 165 SGK ?

Good idea. I wouldn't go selling anything. Theres nothing wrong with having a bunch of 30 cals.

When you consider that a pound of powder will give you 120 to 140 rounds, and bullets come in boxes of 50, you need only shoot more than 150 rounds in the next couple years before you need 2 pounds of powder and 3 boxes of bullets, so you can buy stuff that suits the cartridge without any additional cost. Although it will be a bigger one time expense and it prevents the option of buying in bulk.
Just a thought.
