SHTF would be come as you are, just as wars are these days, if you think the police and military will share, well once all of you sing kumbiyah and have a group hug, I'm sure they will. Note extreme sarcasim.

I still say that a nice reliable revolver (maybe one of those newer Smiths with seven round capacity) in .357 magnum is the best under pressure and would sting any recipient quite nicely.

Well I guess it depends what you define SHTF as.

Are we talking Mad Max Thunderdome?

Or a tornado hits Edmonton and there is some sporadic looting for 72-96 hours as public order is restored. (We are talking less severe than post-Katrina) In which case I believe firmly that the average Joe would still be restricted to 10 round mags.

Breaking the law for 96 hours of cowboy self-satisfaction might not be worth it in the end.

But if SHTF Thunderdome style, then duh, anything goes.

In the poll I picked 10mm assuming that it just wanted to know what would be the best ammo in a SHTF situation not considering cost and availability. Only reason I don't own a 10mm handgun right now is $$$$$$. Someday.
