Mounties new pistol announced.

Yeah that might be something if it had been a sudden thought to acquire a new pistol. With the beloved procurement and government nonsense, like gender based analysis kind of stuff, it's been ages. I was told in training we'd be getting a new pistol soon. We still had a long gun registry at the time...

A post on social media from an NPF spokesperson says decision finally made and will be a Glock 45.
About bloody time they retired that obsolete POS that they had strapped to their hips. Now, maybe the useless ,incompetent brass at RCMP headquarters can finally get service carbines into the hands of its officers, with adequate training to better protect the public and themselves …almost no recommendations after the Mayenthorpe murder of 4 RCMP officers have been implemented …in typical RCMP fashion

I dunno about "patrol carbines". Noted firearms expert Justin Trudeau said this:

"These weapons were designed for one purpose and one purpose only: to kill the largest number of people... in the shortest amount of time. There is no use... and no place... for such weapons in Canada."

Didn't know maximum lethality was part of the RCMP mandate, but I guess we learn something new every day. Gotta say, I'm not comforted by this revelation.

They can have sweet FA like us scum…

Couple weeks ago we had a local officer up at the pistol pit beside me shooting steel er trying to shoot steel . Young guy , big as a house doing everything correctly except ringing steel. I offered him a mag of my Glock 34 , he missed once . He went from frustrated to confused to laughing in one magazine. Genuinely nice guy , felt bad he had that garbage to rely on.

In my experience the vast majority of cops are decent, selfless, hardworking and committed to serving the public. It is because of poor leadership, recruitment, training, equipment or policy (none of which front line officers have any say in or control over) that things go sideways. The same is true in the CAF. Sadly Police Chiefs like the late Daryl Gates LAPD rarely get appointed anymore. Instead politicians favour woke DEI hires who are yes men/women. We know first hand the train wreck that follows when that happens, including the erosion of public trust.

Theyre fully semi automatic assault style weapons...

Funny how law enforcment would get a semi auto carbine, but in the general publics hands, it is a semi automatic assault style weapon.
