Mounting a red dot on an angle?

Would look a bit funny, but as long as windage and elevation are on the proper planes, all should be well.

Im seeing quite a few pics in magazines and on the net of those super small red dots mounted at a 45* angle on the side of a sight like a trijicon or similiar.
It seems to have started with the Spec ops guys mounting a red dot on their 3x sights so they could do faster shots when in CQB in the cities.
In my opinion a red dot on an angle would not be super accurate or easy to adjust but for a quick sight picture to get a shot off it would work well in short distances... even better with a shot gun :D

If I mounted a red dot on an angle? Like on an older basset mount would there be any negative?
It's a good idea for close quarters engagement needs.
You can see a lot of those angled mounted red-dots
on race guns that have a magnification optic on top.
You could find these mounts cheep on internet on sites as ebay.

PS It should be mounted on the side of your shooting hand.
