Mounting a scope with 3 or 4 rings?

I've always thought about mounting a scope with more than 2 rings and wondered if there would be some advantage. I've seen slow-mo video of rifles being fired and watched the scope/ring setup flexing forward on recoil. If there was room, why not mount more rings?

Aside from cost and weight disadvantages, why don't people do this? I've never seen it done.

I know Near has their 3-ring setup and it's good so why not 4? Is it possible for a setup to be too unyielding or is that even an issue? Too hard on the scope's internals?

Let's hear what you guys have to say.

Probably because two rings work just fine and also if the four rings aren't exactly in line and in tolerance it would cause binding issues, seems like it could be a headache.

Far more common to use more than 2 rings on handcannons than on rifles, but that is due to the fact that the way the large handguns recoil flexes the scope much more than rifles. Rifles recoil is more generally in line. When you get into the 338jdj, 375jdj, 444 marlin, 45-70 handguns, extra rings are helpful if you can fit them.

Near alpha mount isn't a 3 ring set up its two. The difference is the front ring is twice as wide and uses two caps instead of one. Very solid set up I use one on my lrt-3
