Mounting a scope

Is there a special trick to mount a scope. I have a weaver base and what I beleive to be weaver rings. I have mounted an old (made in Japan) tasco but due to some handload problems I'm wondering if maybe I did something wrong when I remounted it. I attached the rings to the base then placed the scope in the rings then tighted the screws till snug then made them tight with two fingers. Each ring has 4 screws and I'd work on the front left then the back right and so on. Did I do something wrong when I mounted it?
 
I get an arching pattern of hits about 3 inches out from the center at 100 yards. Like 100 degrees of a circle.

Cosmic what kind of rings are they then. It's either an old tasco or a crappy simmons. I'm saving up for a scope. I'll have it by the end of the month which will be a Bushnell Elite 3200 with Burris Signature Rings. Till then it's the old Tasco.
 
Well - I dont have a foggy clue what type of rings you have... If you've been trying to adjust the scope in the cold, you could have an example of the scope "walking" after an adjustment. Have you satisfied yourself that the scope actually tracks?
Alternatively, an arcing movement is a bedding problem -typically the barrel rubbing the stock.
As stated above, you really need to give more info. What rifle? Has the rifle ever shot well before? Has the scope ever shot well before? Have you ever shot well before?

Winchester 88. Rifle shoots great. I'm a decent shot I usually hit what I'm aim at I'm not a great distance shooter so I've been working on that. 100 yards seams to be where my shooting ability starts going down hill so I tend to avoid shots over 100 yards. I've never had a problem with goupings till I remounted the scope. I remove it and I can hit pretty good groupings out to 75 yards 100 yards the groupings are about the size of my fist. I use a scope and my shots wander as stated. The cold isn't to much it was about 0 in town and I was about 800-1000 feet higher making it about -1 maybe -2. I was only wearing a light sweater and a vest for recoil (planned on testing loads but didn't due to my shots looking like 1/3 of a circle).

As for your comments about a scope walking and tracks you have to know I know NOTHING about scopes and such so you'll have to explain that to me.

Scope shot very well when I first got it and the gun. I removed it to try Iron Sights (shouldn't have done that) and since then I've had problems with it. So Either I'm mounting it wrong or my ammo is MESSED up but since I've done a few things to make sure it's not the way I put the ammo together I'm left with how I mounted the scope.
 
Assume the scope is pooched. Save your ammo until the 3200 shows up. Your mounting procedure seems fine.
If you really want to become a marksman, get a Williams peep sight - they mount using the scope holes.
