Mounting bipod on railed gas block

Wondering if anyone has any experience mounting a bipod on the bottom of an AR railed gas block. I have read a few things that suggest it could negatively affect accuracy, but interested to see if anyone here has any actual experience with it.

I already have an AFG2 mounted on the bottom of my carbine length MOE handguard and don't plan on keeping the bipod permanently attached so it is easier to just mount it on the bottom of the gas block when I want to use it.

You'll get a POI shift when on the Bipod (similar to the Swiss Arms rifles) but it shouldn't really hurt accuracy that much, especially if you already have a standard non floated handguard. Probably get more use out of it than the accuracy will hurt it, if accuracy is your main concern then you can always go to a longer floated forend and a low pro gas block.

Took it out today for the first time and it worked out great. Much more accurate than resting the handguard on a wooden block with the AFG2 in the way. Was able to get fairly consistent groupings at 50y. The downside was that because it is a 10.5" with a brake, the bipod sits directly under the brake. The top of the bipod that *was* FDE in colour is now black. But that's just cosmetic!

Overall I'm happy with the results of mounting it on the gas block as a periodic solution.
