Hi folks,

I have a synthetic stock Rem 597 with scope. This one:

I really want to mount a bipod on it. I've decided on the HBP1A2LM: Bench Rest to Prone, 9 - 13", w/Leg Notches from rimfiresports.

The question is how to mount it on my rifle? I'm guessing I need an adapter since my stock has no mount points.

The Harris HB2R looks like it might be what I need. I'm really hoping that someone else has done this because I'm not finding much, or any, information online about this so far.

Thanks guys....

All you need to do is buy a QD swivel stud from any gun shop and drill a small hole where you want the stud on the forend of your stock. After that it's just a matter of screwing in the stud and then mounting on your bipod.

there is a small depression nere the fore end you can find it eayer by removing the stock theyre will be a re enforced area in the fore stock have gun smuth drill and mount the stud there

i had this done for my own rifle

..you shouldn't need to take it to a gunsmith. The sling swivel stud is ~ $0.90 from just about any sporting goods store, and all you need is to drill a small hole. and screw it in. The bipod will attach to that. That stock has a small "flaw" at the underside of the forestock that coresponds to the reinforcement inside. I suggest drilling down from the "top" to ensure you pass through the center of the reinforcement.

It's a 20 second job, and should be a breeze for even the most amature handymen.

Incedentally I have the exact same model (stock painted something less institutional) with a 6-24x40, bipod & Weaver scope base. I also installed the VQ hammer & extractor and she's a trooper. I've put 8000rnds through it and it's a workhorse.

Thanks guys. I'll get it all done and take some pics.

I'm also ordering the hammer, extractor, 30 round mags, etc.

Just stock, I was putting 1" groups at 50yds from a seated position. (Chair height was all wrong though.) It's a fun little rifle that should be 10 times better with the mods.
