We just bought a Polaris RZR side by side and will be using it for hunting this fall. One of the problems that we have run in to is the methods for mounting firearms. I do not think the Kolpin gun boots will fit my elk gun (Sako 75 300wm stainless/synthetic wearing a Nightforce 8-32x56), nevermind that I am not a huge fan of the mount for carrying two gun boots over the box, so I am looking for different options. How do you guys have your guns mounted? Any custom mounts for cases ? I am thinking about fabricating a special mount for a Pelican case or something.

Can't carry guns(or bows) on our ATV's here in most zones.

However , if I were to , a soft case and bungees on the rack I imagine would work well, it is actually way more secure then one would guess and doesn't get in the way when driving.I know it isn't exactly what you want but It would work and take little room.

I have a Kolpin (Version Five?Six?) with a hinge at the back, thinking it would be quick access if an animal wandered out onto the logging road. Scrambling with the cotter pin caused me to lose a moose, so it sits in the basement. Now I've got a piece of plexiglass in front of some gun clamps, with a barrel condom on the end of the rifle. Looks a little bubba, but it works to keep the majority of the crud off. I'd post a picture, but it's disassembled and I'm lazy:redface:

Rubber coated sling shot styled mounts.
They do get dirty, muddy, wet when those conditions are there.
Buuut, they are readily available when the time comes.
Oil them up and keep a dry towel handy.
Prefer them a tad dirty, wet or dusty than rattling around in some sort of
hard boot.

if it was me...

I'd take a hard case and mount a couple of velcro straps through the foam(like a bow case) then I'd bolt the hard case to the side on an angle...out of the way but still handy...

I have a Ranger that has more room so I went this route. I had to find longer stainless bolts to work with the roll bar.

I mounted a Kolpin case on the side and a rack in the front on my old Rincon.
Basically, I'm doing the same thing on the new bike now except, I have a double rack mounted on a storage box in the front (no picture yet).

Works for me.

Looks good, but remember one thing, wherever you mount your guncase,be sure it doesn't impede you getting off your ATV in a hurry.10 years ago I had a slow motion rollover on an icy slope, couldn't get off the bike over my gun case.Cost me 5 cracked ribs and could have been a lot worse. Now the case is mounted across my back rack. Mur

the OP was askin about a side by each...a bit different application...

here's my quad mount...same idea, out of the way but close to hand.It comes off in a minute and bolts up to my long track on the same mount. The "bungey" hinge works great.

Well we spent today mucking about in the Crowsnest Pass. Whatever mount I use, it will not be some sort of gator grip or open gun rack - what a wet and muddy mess. I am more and more convinced that I will have to fab up a custom mount of some sort for a Pelican or Starlight case. KDX, does your rifle get mucked up or dirty like that ?
