Mounting issue

I'm not sure if this should be in firearms, optics or gunsmithing. I have a mossberg 810a and I'm trying to put a Nikon prostaff 5 on it. The bases/rings I have look like they'd be squishing the objective bell end of the scope by a mm or two and I have no way to move the rings because the bases I have only have one slot. besides buying a new rifle, what are my options? Do most scopes have longer tubes?

Are there other bases available for this gun? Where would I find them?

An offset ring is an option.
