mounting scope

Do you guys use any locktite or anything on the screws when mounting a scope? also how tight shold i put the screws in? i am referring to everything. the screws in the base and the rings

I use blue locktite on the base screws. If they are 6-48's going into steel, I tighten them to 15-20 inch-lbs. Rings to 15 inch-lbs. Cross bolts, depends on how they are made.

what gun is it going on. a gun with low recoil doesn't need to be as tight as a high recoil gun. I use no lock tight on my scopes, other than my two excalipur crossbows

its only going on a stevens 223

I don't use any loctite and haven't had any shake off yet. If you google around you'll get a variety of opinions.

I do 15 inch pounds reciever to base, 65 inch pounds rings to receiver and 15 inch lbs again for rings to themselves.
