Time Travel to the Future, Portal, Anti-Matter Anti Gravity, or Aliens? How is this possible, or only in the movies?

What the Sam Hell is that abortion?

Wrong rifle entirely, with a bastardized contraption made out of a No.4 bayonet to mount what appears to be a VZ-24 (Mauser) bayonet. Come on people...

In color too...I am pretty sure everything was black and white back then.

Its funny you say that, my daughter when she was little was in school and the teacher got then to write about something that was different about today then when her grandparents were kids, she put " the world use to be black and white, now we have color" the teacher had a good laugh and told us about it

I wonder if the movie "armorer" couldn't get his/her hands on enough No1 MkIII rifles??

Seems odd for a closeup, though. You'd think that the researcher(s) on the crew would point out that the No4 MkI rifle wasn't officially adopted and placed into full production until Oct '39, so the set dressers should make sure that the closeups have the correct period rifles.

As for the bayonet, I recall reading somewhere (a long time ago) that there were conversions of No 1 bayonets to fit No 4 rifles. IIRC the boys in the field didn't like the original No 4 bayonet as it was useless for a bayonet's most important use on deployment - opening ration tins...:d

Quite likely, they couldn't get enough of them, or they wouldn't pay the price, or some other movie company had hired the stock of Sht L-E's.
There are only a few companies here who hire out firearms for film use, and they don't possess all that many.

So what?

Give'm credit for trying to make it appear correct. Average watcher probably wouldn't have twigged on the fine details.

At least they didn't try to slip in an original #4 with spike bayonet.
