Movie scene props

If your looking for guns used in movies this is where to get you info http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Main_Page but if your looking for the actual optics that you actually see on the screen good luck. They use a extreme amount of artistic licence with movies no sniper would ever use a laser dot its to much of a give away to the target. not that you would able to see one at several hundred meters anyway even the best ones still have a footprint of a foot at 1000m. Or how about the thermal sights that can see through walls and windows which is impossible especially with glass which is actually becomes reflective to the wavelength used for thermal sights.
 
I have read that sometimes the scopes used in movies are just a scope body without the normal guts including the reticle. Sometimes they are just a detailed hard rubber replica too. Not sure where you would find actual film used optics, or if the prop houses would even sell them if they could be used again.
 
You could try asking TV Presspass, he recently did a tour of a bunch of movie guns, and the question might have come up.
 
Hey I replied in your other thread. 90% of the time guns and optics are airsoft. Going to the store or here on the EE and buying it yourself will be cheaper and faster and get you will get the same result.
