Well always a state of flux in my shop.

Bought this little guy at Princes Auto. Have to weld a couple braces to the legs. Put an ad in kijiji for free BBQ pick up and got my gas tank regulator for free :) Scrapper picking up the rest of the BBQ this morning.

Should make a nice addition.

Anybody had a good look at the burner and stand that comes with the CTire Turkey fryer yet?

Been pondering grabbing one, more for making beer than melting lead, but ya never do know, eh?

IIRC they advertise 41k for that one. At 90 dollars, it comes with the reg and hose, as well as a 37 Lit. pot.

But I would like to see one, or at least, hear from someone that has one, before I drag one out of the store.

Cheers

Wait a couple of weeks and check out the grocery stores, they bring them in for canning and usually are clearing them out. CT will put them on sale just before thanksgiving too and walmart carries them.

I think $90 is too much but I haven't bought them in at least 5 years if I recall correctly I paid around $50 for all of mine. You will just need the burner so I'd be tempted to look on kijiji or craigslist.

I've used this style for boiling 55L of water so they are very strong if you get one with three legs that are not connected at the bottom I suggest screwing it to a sheet of plywood. Before putting that much weight in I've always used the can it hold my fat butt test and stand on it.

I have one of those Canadian tire burners. It's the Master Chef stand fryer. $49.99 reg price. Works great and supports more than 200 lbs easily. The only thing I would suggest is if your pot isn't as wide as the stand, build a windscreen around the burner, or a pot with a skirt, or the heat will go around the pot and be wasted.

I use mine for 12gal batches and more recently since I got into casting a couple years ago, melting lead to make ingots. Have had for close to 10 years and still going strong.
