Stevens 200 30-06 with 3-9x Burris
Husqvarna M98 9.3x62 Irons Only
I'd take these two.

The 30/06 with synthetic stock and scope will serve all around while the 9.3 will get you a heavier bullet option in a lightweight package.

Thanks for letting me know that you are moving buddy!! I voted for the 9.3 as it will cover anything big up there. My second vote was for the Savage .308. I take it you are also taking the appropriate black/red rifles along for SHTF.

You're debating between a Stevens and a Pre-64?

Wait till your fever drops before deciding...:p
I'm thinkin`he doesnt want to beat his pre-64 H&H around on a sled or boat for two years since it probably will be the principle gun used for the duration.

....... or one could just buy a Winchester stainless/synthetic in 300 or 338WinMag. ;)

If it wasn't a Pre 64 and worth money I'd go 300 H&H.

257 Weatherby would be my second choice.

Maybe store them all and buy a couple of new ones?:D

No, no, no, I ain't getting caught in that trap. Does the detachment have a rifle on site? Some have a M-70 in .308, in the old days it was a .270; there would seem to be little point in duplicating what is already there. Which of your rifles do you like the most? Personally I'd go with one flat shooter and one heavy hitter, but given the open nature of the country and the fact that the wind is probably like here and always blowing, a couple of small bores like the .257 and your .300 might be a better combination. You know better than anyone which rifles you like and shoot best though, and those two are the right ones to take.

I guess im not a collector...I buy quality gear to use it, not lock it away....:)

You only live once, and when you're gone, someone else will be hunting that .300H&H, and thanking you for slumming a Stevens...

^^^ ... all bases covered :)

He has a 9.3x62.....a 375 with five in the magazine! :)

Ted

My Husky only holds but the four down, .... that'll just have to do, eh ;)

I'd take a 9.3x62 and a .223. And i wouldn't feel bad if I couldn't take the .223.
In your case I'd get a scope on the 9.3 asap and then flip a coin to see which 30 caliber would come along as backup.
