Just picked up an M305 and a beretta receiver. Been eyeing both for quite a while and this seems like just as good a time as any to get on the band wagon...now for some 10-rnd mags :)

They are Italian receiver's obviously, way back (I think early forties) the Danish Government contracted with the Italian arms manufacturer Breda Meccanica Bresciana and Beretta to produce approximately 12500 M1 Garand rifles. They are likely parts from those guns.

You do know there was a major world war going on at that time .:rolleyes:
I don't think an Italian manufacture was making M1 Garands for the Danish government in the middle of WW2 :rolleyes:
 
Ha yes your right, it was only Winchester and Springfield, and then The Italians after the war.

Yes, I know they are made in Italy!
I meant are they mecanically the same (ie fully compatible with USGI parts)?

Yes, the receivers are identical. It is the barrel that is chambered differently and a you will need the spacer block in the magazine well, for a .308 build I believe. I think the main stock may actually be a bit shorter, along with the OP rod and OP rod spring among perhaps a few other things and considerations.
 
I am pretty sure the reason some of the .308's are shorter is because they are re-chambering a 30.06 Barrel for a .308 cartridge, if you get a barrel made for .308 I am pretty sure you will not need to shorten everything else.

BTW just bought the last two Bredas, site said out of stock but a little bird told me there is many more on the way :)
