Josh, you might be late for attaining residence for this years hunt. I know you have a Hunter # but check up to see if you can just buy a liscence or if you need to be resident for some period of time.

You need to be a resident for 6 months before you can get a big game licence in BC. (I moved here on Oct 1 and ruined a whole year's hunting ). You could drive over to BC this weekend and get your driver's licence changed over to start the 6 month clock ticking and get in on late season deer and goat.

Otherwise there are two work arounds:

1) Hunt waterfowl, small game and upland. You end up paying an extra 50$ but its no big deal. I shot a ~85$ grouse and had it for Christmas dinner. :p

2) Find someone who has lived and hunter here 3 of the 5 previous years and get them to apply for a 'buddy' licence to be your 'guide'. Expect processing time to be measured in months, not weeks. (See pg9 here for details)

Enjoy. :D

Ah FSJ...I was driving in the area and I saw 50 or so deer in a half an hour. Moose, caribou, elk, bear everywhere. I think hunting there would be as easy as closing your eyes, raising your gun and pulling the trigger.

Seriously, the amount of game around there is unbelievable.

I was on a search when I was in the airforce in Jan 86 out of Fort st John for a total of 19 days. I don't think 5 minutes went by in 19 days that someone in the Labrador wasn't saying "moose". Never seen so many in my whole life. There was snow on the ground so they were easy to spot. Cheers Roscoe

Nothing wrong with you hopping in the pickup with me and looking over some country during moose season. Just because you can't legally "hunt" doesn't mean you can't still have fun. And you have a non-res. small game licence, you can be designated chicken & rabbit popper

Some days it feels like it, other weeks it sure don't! Just like hunting anywhere, it is hunting not shopping.
Bigbore/hawkeye we'll see ya at km 40 of the tommy lakes rd, just please don't shoot the little bull with DAVE's spray painted on it's side. Take the big one marked 'otherguy's'.......
